FJ60's Rear brakes after mudding

Good day guys. Here I am again asking questions and also thanking averyone of you for your answers and tips. I recenly had my brakes done, front and back. The mechanic said that I had no brakes in the rear and that's the reason why the e-brake did not work, besides I had a lot of mud inside the drums. got that fixed and brakes and ebrake were working just fine

I went mudding this weekend and this is wht I have. The ebrake does not work and about what I can tell the rear brakes are INOP.

Is there a way to specially clean the rear brakes????? Do I have to take the tire off????? the ebrake cable is fine. All this happened after mudding.

Has this ever happened to any of you????

every time i go out and get in the mud even just the slightest bit i loose nearly all of my e-brake adjustment and have to re-adjust the rears again. goofy02022 on this forum has a 62 and has the same problem with his.

when mud gets in there it doesnt like to get out untill it has ate away some of the shoes.
rear shoes on my truck dont last more than 8 months usually. now if i stay the hell out the mud they last for quite some time. but where is the fun in not playin in the mud.

WOW! I have only replaced my rear shoes once or twice and the truck has ~ 200k miles. Mud and other debris should not be filling up in your drums to the point of eating the shoes. There are rubber plugs to keep the dirt out, and a quick wash down after 4 wheeling should clear out the little dirt that got in.

mud and water every other weekend sometimes every weekend will eat em up. the plugs aint gonna stop anything but some of the larger stuff. its still gonna come in the back side of the drum. also once them pads are good and soaked in water they get a little soft and when your standin on the pedal it will eat em up. good shoes last right around a rear and the cheap ones about 8 months or so depending on how much i get to wheel her. the more i go out the shorter theire life will be.

and i do clean my truck but by the time i leave the trails my pedal is already low and e-brake not adjusted.

either way i dont care takes 20 minutes to replace both sides. and im goin to disk so meh:meh:
 
CruisinFJ60. That's how mine got. I will post some pics later on. Thanks on the info, It's just frustating not having rear brakes and ebrake not working, but well to hell it's all about having fun and not getting stuck.

Not even Pressure Cleaning can take care of that??????
 
Pull the drums/tires and use a water hose on them...remember that s*** finds its way in there and it needs to get out

oh to hell with that crap. that would take just as long as it would to replace em.

ill just leave mine gettin dirty and aiming the pressure washer at em as a "good enough" effort to suffice till ruff stuff has the rear disk brake brackets ready (called today he is thinking, well hoping less than 3 weeks!:bounce: which means i will also buy my SOA kit at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) im super excited like holy crap.
