Wanted FJ60, Red, Little to No Rust

Hello all,

I have been dreaming of owning an FJ60 for some time now. I was finally able to get my wife onboard and now I am on the hunt. I am looking for one with little to no rust and preferably in red. A mechanical laundry list is okay as long as it is drivable and not on the brink of self-destruction. I am also not a stickler for it being a stock, unmodified example as long as the alterations aren't absurd. I am looking to land one or around 5K and then I am aiming to put another 5K to get it to where I want it. I would be open to more expensive examples as long as my overall budget remains the same (cleaner and more mechanically sound). I would love to know if you or anyone you know has one available in the Pacific North West.

There is a guy advertising one on Craigslist in Salem Oregon. I went and took a look at it in person. It looked to be in OK shape for the body and not too rusty. It looked like it had some body fill on the wheel wells a long time ago but not a bad job. It has a laundry list of mechanical item AND the coolant overflow tank was EMPTY and rusty when looked at it; maybe just a water-pump but possible a head gasket. I asked him if it had ever over heated and he said it had got hot a while before and he found the tank empty and had topped it off. The guy seemed to be really hurting for cash and was itching for me to make an offer. He was asking about 6K.

I have a 1986 FJ60 with TBI 350, H55 5 speed trans, lifted on 33s, custom bumpers, Warn winch, Slee sliders, dual batteries with system, roof rack, original paint, no rust, ARB locker in rear, on board Vair compressor with tank and more. The problem is smog in California. I have collected the parts to fix this problem but have not had much time. The truck is red and the grey interior is still in good shape. This truck came out of New Mexico and is rust free and dry. This truck needs the radiator seam fixed and 3 new tires. The truck is very streetable. The truck has 190k and engine has 65k. The engine was new from GM. I am in the Santa Cruz, Ca area. I will let it go for 8k. Steve
