I am going to "build" a front "60 series" axle. New gears/locker/longs. Is there any reason to use the 62 series since I'm replacing everything, or is the only difference the gusset on the housing? I'd rather not have the gusset, my 80 rear gussets hang up on everything!

people typically shoot for the 62s for the 4.11s and there might be just a little more trussing on them too if I recall correctly. I know lowtiderider likes using them over the 60 axles.

Exactly right. The 60 axles have 3.70 gears and 62 axles have 4.10s and an extra gussit on the botom of the housing. Everything else is identical (brakes etc.)

I have a set of 60 axels that are 411gearing,and full floater for the rear. I was going to put under my trail rig but now am thinking maybe not. Let me know if you might be interested.

if you're putting 4.88s or whatever in the axle, then the factory truss is the only difference...

Right on. I'm definately going with the 60 instead of the 62. I dont need the 4.11s since I'm regearing and prefer not to have the gusset "anchor" on the bottom. I could cut it off, but why work harder? Thanks guys.
