FJ60 Hood Insulator - Pricing

I’m assuming I will get an email shortly saying they won’t ship, hence it’s too good to be true.

This was my experience, so another vote for the local dealership. I paid right at $287 plus tax out the door.
Insulator comes unfolded in a cardboard box, easy to handle and transport, but it would not survive the ground delivery world without some serious repackaging.

I tried Toyota Parts Direct and they quoted $287 plus about $280 shipping. Ordered from my local dealer for $287 no shipping. Worked perfect. PSA - do order the clips from Toyota. The old ones will absolutely snap as you remove them. And you only need 17 since the rear of the pad is missing two holes.

I even mentioned to the parts guy is they offered a discount for any land cruiser club members and he knocked a little more off and didn't even ask to
see anything.

Your dealership is charging you MORE than published Toyota MSRP which is $290.48

I'd inquire as to why they are "escalating price" on you.

That sucks.
Onur, as you know, having lived out here how colo charges a premium on everything! It’s sickening, worse than california! So I called the other dealership in denver and they wanted $377!!! I asked what you said to ask, ha ha, and they said sure that’s the “recommended price” and they’ve determined $377 is what they should charge.

I won’t be getting a good insulator anytime soon, besides all it took was one broken belt to shred it the last time and I can just see that happening again. I’m out!

Why not just use something like Dynamat? or the cheaper brands. Should be like $30 to the whole inside of the hood double layer

I gotta chime in with this because I was running it previously for the same reasons (being a cheap SOB)

one lovely summer morning I was driving down cape, as i was heading over the bridge my temps skyrocketed and the truck began to chug —- coasted down the other side into a service station

Between the heat from my engine and the ambient temps, a small piece of the dynamat actually melted off (the adhesive on the hood got too hot) and fell onto my belt....knocking the belt off ...essentially looked like chewing gum in a women’s hair...all over pulleys and everything else.

After taking a knife and scraping all the rubbery material off my pulleys it was remedied.

don’t do as I do :hillbilly:

Now adays i run the dynamat under the hood, but the hood insulator fits OVER IT preventing that type of insanity from happening, though I doubt it will happen to anyone else

Absolutely do not use Dynamat directly on the underside of a hood, no way as described above is it holding up to that temperature. It's made for interior panels that aren't in direct contact with the heat

It gets hot here in the summer and i've seen it melt off even on interior panels

Appreciate it.
I want to add something there for heat/noise. But I'm not gonna spend $200 on an oem liner.
Any other suggestions? sorry to hijack your post OP.

Dynamat 11905 Hoodliner. 32” x 54” x 3/4” $60

Did you use the Dynamat product designated for hoods?

PSA for y'all as I had been searching for an OEM replacement Hood Insulator for some time..looked for quite a while and shipping was simply ridiculous

Insulator Part Number was 53341B and New Part Number is: 5334190A00 $207.82
Retaining Clip (17 required) Part number was 53341C and New Part Number is: 9046709014 $1.10
Shipping from Lakeland Toyota in Florida to me here in CT: $25.95

It always strikes me as odd the parts that are still available vs those that aren't. This is one of those cases.

Did they cancel your order yet?

Did they cancel your order yet?
Ha, good question. Nope, not yet. Neither have the other two local dealers parts counters responded to my request to order.

Does anyone know the actual size of the box it comes in?
