I've recently converted my 2F to TBI and would like to switch to an in-tank pump for a cleaner install and for noise/longevity reasons. I'm thinking the easiest route would be to use a FJ62 tank with a lower pressure pump.

Does anyone know if the FJ62 gas tank is a direct-swap as far as mounts/straps? Does the 62 tank use the same size and/or number of lines as far as supply, return, and vents? Filler neck? Sending unit?

I appreciate any info!

mounts/straps = yes
lines, returns, filler neck = yes
sending unit = yes

As best as I remember the only difference is the in-tank pump with the 62 pump. The location of the in-tank pump may be (I'm guessing here) in the same location as the 60s fuel pickup line.

It's been a number of years since I did this swap and I do not remember hitting any snags.

Found this using the search function... and saving mud from another post. Has anyone done this swap recently. I just want to plug a 62 tank in where a 60 once sat. I think the fuel pump on the 60 series 2F is on the block. Any issues with having 2 fuel pumps

I have a FJ62 with 3F (not 3FE) and I recently swapped fuel tanks from a 60. 100% direct swap. From what I have seen, the opening fuel pickup is in the corner of the tank, with the pick en return lines going to a sort of a bucket/bowl a bit more to the center of the tank, nearer to where the sending unit is. Saw this while trying to bolt back the pickup lines. At first the pick-up did not want to fit back in. Had to look inside the tank with a torch through the hole where the sending unit fit in. From photos I have seen, it looks like on the 62 3FE tank the hole were the fuel pump go into the tank is a bit more the center of the tank above the place where bowl, I have mentioned, is located.

Maybe everyone else knows this, but just a hint from experience.
Fit all the short flexible fuel hoses to the tank before fitting the tank. Then connect them to their respective locations on the body/chassis. I fitted the tank first and then tried to connect all the breather hoses ext. to the tank. It is a pain!
