My dash cap is starting to crack after 10 years. Anyone ever have their original dash professionally restored in the town they live in? I am sure the hardest part of the restore is the speaker area that always seems to be cracked. I have Grey interior and would not mind to spend the money to have my original dash show again.

Thank you !!

I started with this

I sanded the hell out of it with a DA starting with 80 grit down to 220. I then cleaned up the back side and epoxied everything that was loose and then some on the back, back to the metal frame. Lots of stinky chemicals to get it all clean and glued back together.

The next steps were to fill in all the missing foam areas, sand flat again and then glass the entire dash with extra over areas with missing filler.

Note: If you are going to do this, pay special attention to the AC vents as they are a tight fit.

I took my dash cap off today. I got rid all the old silicon glue exposing my original dash so bad and cracked everywhere and the speaker hole got bigger when I pulled off the cover. I purchased a cap from cruiser corps. That one looks the closest to stock.

This is mine. I patched the cracks, and smoothed it out then I had it sprayed with line-X with a light texture. Finally, I painted it with the SEM Cordovan Brown interior paint.

My dash cap is starting to crack after 10 years.

If you originally purchased the dash cap, some of those have a lifetime warranty. I had my FJ40 cap replaced for free after it warped badly along the front edge.

How do I find a new OEM grey 62 dash pad to purchase?
