Does anyone out there know or can you measure the compressed driveshaft length from flange to flange for the driveshafts to fit an fj55 with a stock 4spd tranny. I need to double check my measurements before I get my driveshafts modified. I'm joining the band wagon and am getting rid of the 3 on the tree. For some reason, I always screw up measuring things like this. I'm one of the measure 3 times, cut twice kind of people and don't feel like screwing this one up.

thanks

38" from the flange to the point where the slip joint would enter the shaft (ie: pull out the slip joint, stand the shaft on the flange and it will measure 38"). The compressed length will vary with suspension, load on the truck, spring quality/sag etc. If you want I can get a front length as well as it too will change.

The best way is to take the measurements on the truck. Measure the center of the t-case output, to the center of the diff flange. The driveline shop will make the shaft the right length from that length. Usually only takes a day so downtime is minimal.

thanks, with the way my truck sits, I have a large amount of extra slip left, so I had them modified to promise a good fit. 38" was pretty close to actual for the rear. The front shaft is being lengthened 3 1/8". Now time to torque, stake, and change some seals, and the 4spd in finally in. One of the hardest parts I ran into for the conversion was getting the shift fork boot into the bellhousing properly. Damn, what a tight fit.
