Here's probably the best example you'll find...

W Harold had one that morphed into a back halfed buggy, IIRC. I've seen one or two with just the grill on a tuber. I cut the top and ass off mine when it got too beat up. Built a cage for it. It was ugly but functional as a four seater.

Theres scottryana's 55. Not really a buggy, but pretty badass. There's LC_Hamma's 55. That's a lot closer to a buggy. There's one in this forum on a full size frame.

How do you define a buggy?

that example above pretty much nails what I am looking at, but bobbing the rear. I would like to keep it 55 and not all tube. so i suppose more of a trimmed pig

How about the Iron Pig Off Road FJ55 tube buggy:

80 coils front and rear
3 link front
4 link rear
Tube cage matches FJ55 body lines (like a FJ55 skeleton)
Seats 4
FJ62 3FE efi motor and auto trans
Onboard welder
Full belly pan skid plate
FJ60 axles with chromoly
38.5 TSL-SX
8274-50 up front, 3k winch on rear axle

Oops... too late, the IPOR buggy has gone on a diet...

I was all about the "family wheeler" but found that my family rarely came with me - usually it's just my two kids, and they don't need to be in the buggy when I'm doing stupid stuff. Now that I have the FZJ40 I take the family with me in that for more gentle (yeah, right...) wheeling. Family wheeling is usually better in a complete vehicle where you can keep them comfortable rather than in a buggy.

Earlier this year I cut the frame off behind the rear lower links and ran just 2" DOM for the rear cage. Also did the boat sides. I had a lot of heavy gauge tube and plate steel that I removed. I dropped over 800lbs and added back less than 200. Later this summer I plan to drop another 500 with a motor swap and tubing out the front of the chasis.

did Georg build a pig?

that Don... he is bad ass!! :deadhorse:

Glad you figured that out. Don had a Rockwelled 55 buggy for a while, 4x4 Labs Lance had one for a while ( the Rock Spider?). W's had a Cadillac engine, 3 pieces of original 55 sheet metal and 4 corner airbags when it did the first Pigrun in 2000.
Also look up 55 guy here in Sac., he's got an exo on his bobbed 55.

Nice! well I have aquired the pig so we will see what happens....

That Truckee carcass? Might be nice of you to post some pics of your progress in the 55 section...until it gets unrecognizable...

Looks good Lance,

Should make it an even more awesome wheeler!
