Wanted to post this here instead of my build thread so it would get more exposure.

The suspension on my '64 LV is naturally shot after nearly 50 years. So we want to put new springs underneath for the restoration we are currently doing. The problem is I am having a hard time finding a source for a "stock" height suspension. I know there are a couple of options for a mild 2" lift but I want to keep the stock ride height.

I have contacted Alcan about building doing a stock height suspension for me, but was looking to see if anyone could recommend some other options incase Alcan's price comes back higher than I want.

Thanks in advance

I'm almost certain the front is the same as a 40 series. It's the rears you may have trouble finding.

Fronts are the same as a 40,and the rears are the same as a 45 pickup long or short wheelbase.I have found that the rear spring packs are very stout and can be taken apart and cleaned up and you can add a full length add a leaf to help with sag, just an option to save some money, alcans add up quick! I have done the same with the fronts with good results...

springs

I have a set of factory 45 springs and shocks that I am trying to sell. They were in good shape when removed. Still had the factory ride and height. Let me know if you are interested. Not sure if the fronts will fit yours though.

One of the lvs I am pilfering parts off of has long add a leafs in the rear stock spring pack, and the truck sits fairly level. I don't know if you have a machine shop that specializes in 18wheelers nearby, but I've had local shops make me spring packs before and they turned out quite well, I just had to babysit them during the whole process. The only other option is going OME and pulling a leaf or two to lower your ride to stock height.

Thanks for all the input guys, I did not realize the fronts were the same as on a 40.

After talking with the guys at ACC I think I have decided to go with the OME/ Dakar light duty lift, as that should keep me close to a stock ride height (1" lift) and get me the quality and longevity of a new suspension. I had considered doing an add-leaf and having them re-arched but I was leary of how long that would hold up. So with the time and money we are investing in this project I figured it was best to go with a new suspesion that we won't have to worry about anytime in the near future.

Thanks for the help
