Looking good.

That sounds to me like you might have a problem with fuel tank venting. Does it run with the fuel cap off? How about if you just attach the inlet fuel line to a plain old gas can, does that make a difference? How about the fuel filter? Has it been replaced, or has it been idle for the two years?

Dan

If it ran and then started to die and sputter , that means that there is air in the fuel system. Get yourself (if you dont already) some fuel conditioner fire it up and slightly crack each injector the farthest one from the Injector pump first and then close it till it really spurts (at idle speed) Be carefull not to spray your eyes or any thing else . If it idles but runs rough and sputters with blue smoke (misses) it is your fuel filter clogged. Awesome Project are you coming to Cruiser Days July 19 on the Mainland ?

Hey Dougal, any info would be great... I'm almost ready to start with the turbo.

I've got adapter designs to fit the CT26 manifold to a T25, T3 or GT2052 turbo.
I haven't yet finished all the drawings though, give me a few more days.

progress

hey thanks guys, I'll try and figure it out in the next few days... been fabin up the supports on the roll bar, I'm going to rap some kind a steel gratting and protection around the back of cab. Also looking at the trailer hitch... how far out it should stick.
all the best....
Cheers

I'm also looking for the slave cylinder for the clutch, mine is pretty siezed. The ones I have found locally have a wider mount than what fits on my engine.
The 3B came out of an 82 BJ42 and I'm in Canada.

In stock... a phone call is better than an email.

250 597 2500 is for Radd Cruisers.

I passed you on the freeway in Duncan a couple weeks maybe a month ago, you had the cruisers on a trailor with tarp?

Small world, nice project.

you can get the adapter from the states. REAL nice and only $75... i have used a few over the years.
nice build, congrates.

Aball you still there? I am in the middle of a 3B swap from a 982 BJ42 into my 1980 FJ40. I am having the same issue with the fuel lines that I saw you ran into with this project. How did you solve it?

Any help would be great, Cheers!

Good luck getting a hold of adam. He built this truck, drove it for a few months and sold it. I dont think he's in the landcruiser world anymore.

Thanks for the heads up. Any chance you can shed some light on this for me? I can see where the intake line for the gas is located however where does the return attach? Or does it?

I don't understand the question.

Our 3B doesn't have a fuel return line, so we simply capped the return lines to/from the tank that the evap canister originally used.

Works well. Just one fuel line from the tank to the engine (via some additional fuel filters).

Thanks Dan, that's why I was confused!
I read in another discussion the unused diesel gets reused by the pump system so I was confused about the second line that came with my 2F. I am a lot more familiar with 2F engines. I'm still very new to diesels, this is my first one so I'm still working out my first reaction the differences! This has been a 6 month project. That said, my wedding and homey moon took up about 3 months of that time so I'm not doing too bad. Of course my new wife was not too excited when I was calling and ordering parts while we were in Thailand.

I realize this post was awhile ago but I want to attempt putting a FJ40 body on a Bj42 3B engine, drivetrain, chassis. Both 81" any thoughts? Any helpful links to other threads? I cannot seem to post on this site

thomsoncont : I'm guessing the bj42 body is pooched or is it you prefer the fj body ?
Just wondering the reasoning behind the question ?
Thanks for asking Alberta Mac; the engine tranny and chassis are all on a rolling frame. No body. He also has a fj40 with a good body. To me the fj40 and bj42 bodies appear to be the same so I am wondering what kind of task that would be. I figure wiring would be a big deal.
