FJ43 on E-bay

It's basically hand built from scratch and each piece is replaced. Not sure the price tag is warranted.

Sure wish toyota had listened to Jonathan at TLC, rather than the design school punk who ended up giving us the FJCruiser. The fact that his resto's go for 80K+, the icons go for 100k+, defender 90's go for more than their original MSRP and Mercedes can sell G-wagons for 80k+ should tell the goddamned automakers that there is an underserved market out there.

how many of the 80k restos and 100k icons are getting sold each year compared to how many fj cruisers?

more $ than sense

It's a dead horse at this point, but I'd rather see a more traditional, squared off and, above all, non-plastic 4x4 from toyota. Each their own. All I'm saying is that the prices people are willing to pay for resto's and things like the G-wagon indicate that there's an underserved market.

How big is it? I'm in no position to say, but I'd pay 45k for a new 70 series.

Carson

Who knows why Toyota Chose to make the FJ cruiser rather than removable top, utilitarian, competition for the Wrangler. I agree that there is an untapped market there. Also as Jeep has discovered, a market for a removable top 4 door. Im a cruiser head to the core. Completely obsessed. but the 4 door rubicon makes my eyes wander. Wish toyota could have followed a similar path. The Icon is beautiful. Love the matte finish. I like that although refered to in the listing as an FJ43, they left the departure angle of the FJ40. If I ever win the lottery......Great Wallpaper in the mean time.

I heard rumors that the reason Toyota quit importing the FJ40 was because fo the removable top.

I understand that any vehicle with a removable top or convertable has a huge import trarif.

It may have been campfire talk as well and the person who was telling the story may have had one or two beverages and it was just thier opinion.

Well, now we could make it in one of the US or MEX plants :D

But then you run the problem of it offending the PURISTS who want a Japanese made 4x4, not one made in a plant in Mexico or the USA. Not that people notice the stampings on their "Japanese" Corrolas, Camry's, or Sequoias. Made in the USA, they are.
