Hey gents,
Been running my FJ40 with 327 sbc as a daily driver for a long while now (over a year). Today, went to start it after a quick dinner stop at nearby resturant and nada. No clicking, key turns easily.
Jumped the starter and it turns but wont fire up.

Is this an ignition switch replacement issue?

Thanks,
rj

What do you mean by "jump the starter"? Did you just put a good battery in parallel with yours or did you jump across the terminals of the starter solenoid? If you did the latter, was the ignition switch in the on position? Have you tried to measure the coil positive for voltage?

i jumped across the terminals of the starter solenoid. The ignition switch was on.
Any thoughts?

If there's no noise at all after jumping the starter at the terminals, the starter's toast. Not much else can make a lot of noise until it does its thing.

It seems likely that it's the ignition switch, but I'd get a voltmeter or tester in there. With the switch in the on position, you should have voltage at the coil and the wipers/turn signals should work as well as the gauges (fuel gauge should move). If none move, I'd suspect the switch.
