FJ40 rim size vs. 31x10.5x15 tire

Will 31x10.5x15 tires fit the FJ40 5.5" wide rims or should I look for wider rims? This is for a daily driver.

i say go wider, mainly cause i like the looks of my 31x 10 1/2 on the 8 inch chev rims..or are they 7's? i dunno..

Here's a 31x10.50 on a 7 inch rim. I think these are old 4-Runner rims.

They will fit but technically the rim is too narrow so some shops won't do it.

I've been running those on my daily driver for the last 4 years with no problems

Stock rims will work, so will wider rims up to eight inches. The difference is that the stock rims will kep the rubber in the fenders. With wide rims the tires will stick out. Some folks like the 'tall skinny' look, others like the 'hot wheels' look.

Personally I think the wide rims make a Land Cruiser look more like a Jeep and the rear tires may rub the quarter panels.
