I'm in similar shoes--I've got a 1969 FJ40 that never had A/C and am moving to Central America in the future. I'm interested to do something like this too. I've got a Chevy Silverado 2012 5.3L engine inside though. Should keep in touch to let me know how your project goes. A/C is a few steps down the list for me.

Have any pics of one of these installed? (as my name implies, I'm a noob, but pics are quite helpful to reverse-engineer)

No luck. Saw that when I googled, and figure two ducts could be run to the defrosters and then other two could run to the floor etc. I'm sure you could also run a T or Y in some of the ducts.

I have one of these in mine, I run 4 cooling ducts, no floor and 2 for defrost.
I removed the orig heater box to do it and installed under the glovebox, which I actually had to reduce in size to fit the defrost hoses.

i also installed dynamat and jute on the floor and installed new seals everywhere and i would say it is OK at best in summer (Im in Perth Aus and we hit 45 deg c in summer) the heating capacity is fine but we are minimum of 0 in winter (very occasional)

Hi Cam,
When you get a chance, could you send a couple pics?
if easier to email: tomhrrtl@gmail.com
Thanks!

I have this thread on my watch list. No new posts since June 2015 though.

Old Air- Hurricane AC unit install

That said I am looking at going with the 2000 series unit at some point (with some mods to incorporate the factory blower as a booster so I can keep the option of fresh air or recalculated air)

But as has been noted, without aa major insulation/sealing effort do not expect miracles.
