I need to replace the fuel tank delivery hose, from tank to engine. The hose is covered with cloth? and the fitting is a threaded type. The other side of the hose just slips over tubing. Where can I get this piece of hose?

Thanks.

Fuel delivery hose

I took off the hose and lost it, but I would like to replace the hose with the fitting, there was no hose clamp at the tank just the threaded fitting. There was a hose clamp under the body where it connected to rigid line.

Get ready to get terribly confused...;)

First off, you can longer get the OEM hose. The fitting on the gas tank is... shall we say unique.... it is a matter of some debate but is now believed to be a 13mm x 1.5 fitting. You will not find this fitting at the local automotive store.

You have several options. Locate a OEM hose from another truck, find your existing hose and use the fitting off the end of it to have a new hose made, rig it using a forced on 'standard' fuel fitting, cut the existing fuel outlet nipple out of the tank and weld in a 'standard' nipple, or replace your tank. There are a couple of vendors on here who MAY have an used OEM hose. The common fix is to use the forced on standard fuel nipple fitting then standard 1/4" or 5/16" fuel line.

Yap been there pondered it. Ended up scrounging a fitting from a parts motor. Used the threaded fitting on a peice of 5/16" (I think) new line with a new olive or whatever they are called. It works but ya gotta have some old lines to scrounge the nuts off of.

You can then clamp rubber line on a stub of hardline from the tank/filter or run it all hardline. Mines rubber for now...

I got a nice replacement set from Marksoffroad.net. He made them up with the fittings and all. Just bolt up and go.

IIRC, the fitting is whitworth thread. The fitting on the carburetor is the same. I have read here on 'mud that you can make a hose barb out of a carburetor fitting with the hard line, say about 1', and then use regular fuel line and a hose clamp. I have tried this and the nut fits, but the hard line sticking out of the backside of the nut wouldn't fit in the tank fitting. I am either going to try a new piece of tubing leaving less tube sticking past the ferrule, or drill out the tank fitting.

I am out of town right now, but when I get back, I will try to post up some pictures.

No, it's definitely not a British fitting. I originally thought the same thing since they use the 1/8" BSPP fittings on the oil lines and smaller gas line fittings. I ordered what should have been the correct fitting (1/4-19 BSPP) and it does not fit. It's close. I measured the threads and they are 1.5mm pitch. The diameter is larger then 12 and smaller than 14 so logically the fitting should be a 13 x 1.5. They don't exist in the parts of the world I have searched. Other Toyota vehicles in the early 70's used these fittings so the junk yard is a good source.

X2 on Marks Off Road. He has a brass fitting that will screw on to that "special" thread and then you use a standard fuel line.. Not too many pesos ether..

I need one of those fittings too, but Mark doesn't think he has any. I measured it at 14x2.00 with a bolt from the hdw store, then took it to a hydraulic hose shop and they measured it the same. Unfortunately, they don't have any female fittings that size anymore. They told me that it used to be a standard size but was changed to 14x1.5 some time ago.

So, anyone have any ideas? My hose is rotting, and the original fitting is swaged on. I don't think I can reuse it.

Ive been lurking here for 5 years and finally found something I can help with.
What I did was took the hose to a local hydraulic shop. They were able to use a hacksaw and screwdriver to remove the pressed part of the fitting, put some new hose on and press a new sleeve over the hose. You could do this yourself and use a hose clamp too.

Autozone, Advance, Pep Boys or Napa....

I used 3/8" Fuel line to replace mine along with standard hose clamps. Works Great!

Make sure they give you "Fuel" line and not vaccum line because the fuel will ruin the hose.

That's not a bad idea, but in my case it's a one-shot deal since I have no replacement. I could cut the pressed sleeve off, but is there a stub tube or something that the hose slips on? I have a new hose. Or I could take it to the same hyd shop that measured it for me. They might be up for a challenge.

ok I guess my situation is a little different. My rig I just bought never had any of the factory hard lines in it. The PO (or someone before him even) JB welded a new pickup tube with a JICS fitting in the fuel sender hole and capped the threaded nipple with a vacuum cap. I scrapped that whole tank and bought a new one from CCOT. I also have a v8 swap so no way to rob fittings from the carb.

Sorry to hijack just trying to find a solution that doesn't involve cutting/welding on a brand new tank. I'm just looking to get this back on the road.

There is a nipple that the hose slides over. The pressed sleeve is a separate part. Put it in the vice and cut the pressed sleeve at an angle so you can clear the nut.
It is a 1/2:banana: job.
Good luck

No nipple on my tank, just this threaded fitting:

the problem is finding something to thread to that, and then attaching a fuel line. I found some Toyota PN's in some other threads that should help me make a piece of hardline with the right fitting for that threaded nipple, then I can just hoseclamp my fuel line to that

96395-71400 - olive (ferrule)
