Hi guys is my first time here, sorry for my english is no good.

i have a stock 3 speed transmition on my 1971fj, and i wnat to know if is going to handle the power of a mildy built Chevy 350 without breaking. i intend to go some offroading on sand dunes mostly. and also wich is the best adapter for the chevy 350??

thanks

check out advanced adapters for the adapter for a 350. downey off road also sells adapter kits, not sure if they have a kit for the 3 speed tho.

whats that!!. sorry

It's a 4 speed domestic transmission.

THere's still a few guys running 3 speeds, but not many.

I think the 3 speed is not so bad with 31" or smaller tires. By the time you get to 33's, the gearing is simply not low enough anymore IMO.

I know one guy who ran a 3 speed with a 402 big block and pulled a travel trailer to boot and never had a problem. He was very gentle with his truck, and he ran 31" tires. He was the exception.

I've also disassembled 3 speeds from behind v-8s that not only had large chunks of teeth missing, but BENT teeth from the torque loads!
