Well Ige, while surfing on ebay I came along this center arm rebuild kit at GWS rareparts. I believe this is the early one, don't know if it is still available elsewhere?

drove annie to work today...rebuilt steering arm and new spring bushings made a huge difference. don't get me wrong, the steering is still stupid loose, but the wander is somewhat managable now ;)

While going down the main page I noticed this thread had the latest post in chat https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/cruiser_guy-charles.805332/ For those that don't remember Charles he and his wife did missionary work around the world. While in Central America he located some NOS FJ25 parts that some of us were lucky enough to get. I met Charles in person on his trip home to Canada. He and his wife stopped by to drop off a part. They were a great couple who you could tell were more concerned about the less fortunate in the world then themselves. About a year later they had moved to Africa. Lost track of him after. Just seen a thread on issues with the diesel fuel available in Africa for his BJ60 he had shipped there plus his continuing saga trying to figure out what had happened to his FJ45LV that was left with Paul Pilgrim in Costa Rica. Like Marv his passing was a stock and he will be missed.

While going down the main page I no
wow...so sad, i also met charles, during one of his many canada to south america trips, he brought some parts for me and i picked up some parts for others near me. he was a really great person :(

Ditto

I was still part of Charles's and Petra's facebook following when I heard the news. He and Petra stopped by the house for parts and some food/conversationon their last return from South America. They were very excited to be going to Sierra Leone. Nice people to say the least, its quite humbling to meet people who do so much for others

Very sad news...he seemed like a very nice guy...we chatted a few times, talked about a lot of stuff...prayers go out for Charles and his family.

John (LITP) hope your AC's are working .... and your cruisers aren't melting :)

AC in the house is working fine. It is nine years and need to decide if I want to change it. After this summer and next summer I won't be here and can just turn it off. Until then I'm spending more time in the heat then normal for a couple of reasons.:( My Sequoia A/C works great. My wife drove it for day while her 4Runner was in the shop for some service. She thinks the Sequoia's A/C works better so I need to check the charge. Weekends when I drive the 4runner I haven't noticed it.:meh:

Nice thing about old cruisers is metal which doesn't melt in the desert heat. Plastic parts don't melt either they just dry up and crack.:(

Actually still working outside on the landscaping. Just need to drink fifty times as much so I don't end up in the ER again with another kidney stone.:crybaby:

I know Sean has it easy down south. It was 108 in Phoenix yesterday but only 107 in Tucson.

Spent a nice day in the garage with the Toyota..........................my daughter's '07 RAV4.

Pulled the column to replace the electric power steering which is a non serviceable throw away part that costs $1k+ at the dealer (I bought a used one). Problem started as a vague dead spot in the center of the steering while on the highway, progressed to a dead band where it was obvious that there was no power steering in the center. Dealer has consistently called it "normal". If you haven't had the joy of playing with electric power steering, the old days of power steering just being a perk and not necessary to control the car are gone. Anyone who says that a vehicle with electric power steering is controllable with it not working has never attempted the feat. I pulled the fuse to diagnose the problem and was shocked at the force necessary to attempt to turn the wheel. Not to mention the clock spring effect of winding up the P/S unit while doing so.

Just ranting a little, not what I expect from a Toyota.........................I could tell you about the three hours spent removing and replacing the fuse earlier in the week which required complete removal and disassembly of the under hood fuse box.........to......replace.......a.........fuse.

Sorry to hear of daughters toyota issues... Glad I got old school power steering ( who thought I'd ever say that?) :)

We spent yesterday (and all last week ) in Ogunquit Maine ... Fireworks was yesterday... Best I've ever seen!!! We were almost directly under them

Happy 4th! Nice pic too. The day I didn't work was spent on the car, but we had fun.

Did manage to get north on the 4TH. Weekend was shorter then the five day we had hoped for. Temperature was in the 70s for the highs and fifties for the lows. Got back in the oven today 106 Oh boy.

I think there is a reason so many people trade in their vehicle before the warranty expires. My Sequoia I believe was traded in because original warrany on the power train was about to expire. Thanks to Certified Toyota and full bumper to bumper I bargained downed way down I have four years of full coverage. At that point I'll decide what to do. We've had our 04 4Runner for over ten years and pretty much trouble free. At this point if something major went wrong it might be wise to just part it out and put the 4.7 into a 25.
