In a completely unrelated post, l now make musical instruments in my retirement out of junk. I made this stick dulcimer out of a 1919 cream cheese box, a yardstick, an old cabinet hinge l found in the desert 4wheeling, and made the neck out of maple. I needed something to press the strings down onto the bridge and used this little gem off a 1960 FJ25 body that Marv Spector sold to me many years ago.

That is awesome!

Thank you. It's a real kick to play. I put a piezo pickup inside it and took a Roland Micro Cube and stuffed it into this 1940s radio for an amp. Who said retirement was gonna be boring?

OMG Gene, Awesome work. Now that I recently sold my FJ25 with enough leftover junk in the garage 😁, you are my inspiration moving forward in 2025 😍.

Hello Archie, it's been a lotta years since you were cruising the streets of the San Fernando Valley. You sold your 25? I wasn't aware. To someone local? Thanks for the compliment, I've built over a dozen instruments and will be doing it for years to come. I've also been working on my cruisers a lot. The 40 is done and the 60 is at Proffitts for another few weeks, and the LV is the project to finish in 2025. I hope you are well brother.

Yeah had to sell it with heavy hearts. Once again we are on the international move and this time relocating to Australia. Nowadays it is just too much of a hassle to imports old & classics there unfortunately. Sold locally for peanuts considering all the efforts and parts collection gone into in last 19 years or so 😢.

Really sorry to hear this.

Not advocating “No Airbags” by any means but driving in pre 1990 cruisers could be a safer option in some ways 😂.

Apparently a faulty crash or rollover sensor can trigger airbag to deploy without any accidents. Many Hummer H3 and Trailblazer owners have reported of such incidents while at cruising speeds and also at low speeds on trails. In fact now there are various topics / threads in Hummer H3 forum where members are suggesting to pull the fuse in order to disable the airbags in off-road conditions.

Now after reading this it scares me every time I stare steering wheel in my modern car 😀.

I joined Mud just about twenty years ago mainly because of the newly created 25 section. I rarely look at this section anumore but I am wondering why this is at the bottom of the main page instead of the top. Wear my thumb out scrolling down the main page on my phone to get here. In the tech section you can find listings for just about any vehicle including a jeep. Just feel 25s are like Rodney Dangerfield getting no respect. Anyone else feel this way?

I kind of like our secret little sub section that a lot of members are unaware of.

I came here to commiserate with the handful of people who found themselves the eternal caretakers of 25's and early 40's. If I recall correctly, we had to ask for this cozy little corner to feel all safe and protected from the general population. ;)

Early cruisers are naughty creatures, you never know when they sneak into your garage again 😁.
Or never leave. First time this has done anything worthwhile in a few years, fortunately I didn't disturb any of that fine patina of barn find grime. Sometimes you just need that dead weight of a Land Cruiser:

Out in the wild vs in the Garage?
.......directly proportional to how much time and money has been put into it!?
Andy (@andybudge) even a tiny glimpse of your cruiser and both Gene’s (@Land Cruiser Junky) cruisers are an absolute divine experience. I consider them best for dreaming 😎. They should be parked in the lounge or next to the home bar, (not in garage) 🤩
