Brass tag said '65, I'm thinking '64................................which reminds me I left some cleaner on the VIN plate...........probably ate the whole thing by now...........

Good thought Nick. I could just run the rear driveshaft right to the winch. :D

hey, got a question for use all! im new to the FJ25 world but im a quick learner my father bought a FJ25 a while ago now from a deceased estate it had been in a shed for a long time it has the original engine etc transfer cover has been removed and it is like new i believe it has an original ashtray and i will provide photos of these and the theiss toyota built 1960 FJ25 that is in rather good condition gearbox is free although the engine isnt and may require some work

so my question is does the Australian FJ have a colour matched chassis?

thanks i hope i find some help here leroy

also is there any other aussies that anyone knows of that have and FJ25??

Welcome Leroy,

We've had a few folks from Australia check in...............no owners though (if I've forgotten someone post up more often).

Lots of 25's in Australia though. :D Send us some pictures of yours, the more pictures we see the more new stuff we find out!

Not sure on the color matched chassis for you, but I would suppose they did the cowl/chassis the same way as the rest.

If you have a hard time getting the motor squared away just about any F motor will bolt in for a quick fix.

i doubt there will be any quick fixing here haha it is in really straight condition after sitting in a shed for like 20 years it only has 3 of the orignal wheels the petrol tank has a filler under the drivers seat i will get onto some pictures of the rig for use soon as possible

Filler under the drivers seat---Should be the the same as our left hand drive toyotas. Yes, waiting for photos. thanks, John Pardi

Thanks Phil! Hope everyone had a good one!:D

So phil what's that pink panty LX doing outside in the snow? I would have thought you would have it in a heated garage:rolleyes: I know my cruisers think there are living the high life with a tarp over them but a Lexus is used to much better than that.

John

The "LX" is the rolled 80 CE, an innocent victim of war with an uncertain future. Newest garage dweller is a 71 super beetle...it is rounding out my education and I get to use the 11 and 13 mm wrenches!

somebody bought it:

A guy named Simon north of the border bought it. I don't believe the price that is on VOR's site was even close. I think the buyer did pretty well. Don't think he's ever posted here. :frown:

IH8PTO Winches.

We were bringing in some wood Saturday morning and some of it was just a little too far out to just drag it in. So I say to myself let's give this PTO winch a try......................................

After a couple shear pins (no big deal) the last one left the 25 suspended between an anchor and the load. :whoops: Sorry no pics, I was too busy cussing and hitting stuff. After freeing the 25, I backed it all the way home dragging the cable and shoved it in the garage for the night. So I changed the shear pin again, but now I was alone with about 100' of cable out the garage door................No problem, start truck, engage PTO, guide the cable on the spool with a few feet to go, reach in and turn off ignition...............:hhmm: Done. Goodnight.

So Sunday morning I head out to finish up, truck goes a couple feet then locks up. Wierd. Push in clutch it rolls out of the garage. Well that's odd must be something in the drivetrain......................better try it again.

At least the shear pin didn't break!

Did I ever mention, don't try to use this thing alone. So I head out by myself to "quickly" finish what I started the previous morning. Skid out most of the stuff.............then there was that one load that was just a little too far out........... Why don't I try that nifty PTO winch?

Winch 10 feet, jump out check spool, winch 10 feet, jump out check spool, winch 10 feet, jump out check spool, winch 10 feet, jump out check spool, winch 10 feet, jump out check spool, winch 10 feet, jump out check spool...........hey this is great :bounce: winch 11 feet ..................crunch, crunch, crunch...................three wraps around the outside of the spool. Here's a picture after a couple hours picking at the mess and unspooling most of the cable, and me guiding all 225' back on the spool while my daughter runs the demon beast. :bang:

I had the same problem with cable off the spool on my 68 FJ40 once. The real problem was I had a elk hanging on a tree branch on the end of the cable. I did have a problem with the Ramsey on a FJ25 a couple of years ago. Winching a full size chevy truck up a driveway Too much cable got on one of the spool flattening the cable. But I couldn't guide the cable outside the 25 since I needed my foot on the brakes to keep the 25 for sliding. I second using two people to rewind cable. I use to anchor the cable to a large tree then pull vehicle up a small hill to keep the cable tight. Just too scary to think of what would happen if you would get caught in the cable and no way to stop it.

See Jim... THIS is where you need to mount that monster PTO winch in the bed of the 25. Then you could just reach over the back of the seat and watch from the drivers seat. :D

I keep thinkin I wanna mount a mirror over the winch so's I can watch what's goin on while still being "in control"...

That's a pretty darn good idea Nick. A magnet and mirror would probably put an end to my whining here........... :D I don't think the 25 could carry that big winch in the back. :p

Tried a new game tonight, Stout Tugging! :bounce:

Sucker was froze into the ground, took about fifteen tugs to go a couple hundred yards. Ready and waiting for it's new owner. :grinpimp:
