Quick question for the collective mud brain.

Will the 17 inch non TRD FJ Cruiser wheels fit on an 80?

I know about the spacer issue if you want to keep them flush with the flares but I am flareless so not an issue for me.

Anyone have issues getting the center caps to work on the 1997 80 series hubs?

thanks in advance!

offset is different. 80 wheels will not fit your FJC. this has been discussed here as well as the FJC tech forum.

He is asking if FJC wheels will fit an 80 and they will.

They will fit. The center caps will not fit over the hubs, unless you have a ~2" spacer. I don't worry about the center caps on mine.

Thanks guys. I had a deal worked out on craigslist and couldn't access the site search from my phone.

I got a set of five...will post up some pics once I have them mounted.

again, thanks.

What about lug nuts? I've eyeballed both stock 80 series 5 spoke wheels and the FGays, stock wheels are nurled or whatever, concaved to match the acorn nuts but thenon TRD FJ wheels are flat, don't think you can run the same nuts but question is what do you run? Most parts store only carry the acorn style or rounded bottom nuts. Suggestions?

I've looked around quite a bit for the correct lug nuts and other than going with the Toyota $6ea ones I found that Gorilla makes a locking set, Part # 73631T. You can find them on amazon. I got the locking style to protect my tires more than the rims...

Otherwise you need a 12x1.5 mag or shank style but the shorter length. Standard MAG are too long so you would have to run extra washers if you got the standard size.

Why do people insist on attempting to fit improper wheels?

The diameter is incorrect.
The offset is incorrect.
The width is incorrect.

Three strikes and you are out....

Oh, real men don't eat quiche and real 4WDs have a solid tube on both ends................. :flipoff2:

Nice Dan. Yes I needed spacers to fit flush with the flares and your other nitpicks are irrelevant. :hillbilly:

The KM2 is not available in a 37 for 16" rims and I personally like the look of blacked out FJ rims. They were dirt cheap and still a semi-factory option. :flipoff2:

I'll probably end up tearing my flares off eventually and then removing the spacers...

Sorry Dan, I'm with Kovsky.

If the criteria you listed were the only ones to consider 40% of the site would be "wrong".

Here's what it came down to for me....

Cheap option to get brand new tires on a rig that needs them.
Narrower track to match my flareless look.
Better looking rims than the 14 year old ones I currently have.

Seems like a win/win for me.

I probably have extra lug nuts to fix a MUD member up. The fact that you called it an "FGay" doesn't get you much cred here :flipoff2:

FJ wheels on FZJ80

Just installed 16' FJ cruiser aluminum wheels on my FZJ80. (Removed 18X8" wheels tires.). According to the specs the wheels have a 5mm offset difference ( it is about 1/5th of an inch). Wheels are 7.5" wide versus stock 8".

Bought them from someone who had just purchased a new FJ Cruiser and immediately put on new wheels. Price was right ($50 ea.). Have BFG TA KO 265/75R16, gives me 31.7" OD. Speedo and odo now work correctly, rides better etc.

'96 FZJ80 ARB front bumper, Warn M8000, OME lift, no lockers.
