FJ 60 question (1 Viewer)

I have a 86 60 with a vibration problem. I have eliminated everything from out of balance wheels to drive shafts. Drivetrain is pretty new. It feels as if it is coming up through the floor board. Any suggestions.

Give us a little bit more to go on, like it vibrates under acceleration, braking, both. Junk is going to say something like, "It's shakin cause its a 60!"

Without other info, ditto on the driver's side motor mount. Relatively common problem on fj60s.

I thought I would get the best response on this page since at the SOR forum you all seemed to have good information about the fj 60 since I found some of your posts on the 60 section. :-/ If I am going to be called a a****** and have the finger given to me then I cannot have much respect for the moniter of this forum if they allow that, and I don't know if I would want to keep posting if it continues.

I do thank everyone else for there posts. To continue with the problem, the drive train is new. New motor mounts, output shafts were fine. It seems to vibrate the most at sustained speeds of 50-55 mph. I only feel the vibration in the floor boards at this time. Thanks for all the help you can provide.

I have a 62 and an FZJ80. I think it is entirely appropriate for you to inquire among the 80s owners who have probably owned 60s in the past. I don't quite understand Junk's response.

I have a vibration in my 62 between 50 and 65mph. It is gone at 70+. I have tightened ujoints and actually bought new wheels and installed since my old ones were bent to hell. No relief. I think I damaged something in the front axel area while off road. Maybe it is a bad bearing. I just do not know. I think it is a common problem. I do not think mine is related to the engine mounts. Was yours vibrating prior to rebuild???

My 60 used to have various vibrations that occurred at certain speeds, however not as bad as yours sounds. With the things that you've said so far, I'm thinking it might be bearings too at this point. &nbspo you here any noise along with the vibration, humming?

:bow:Thanks for the support Tenncrusher. It's a short story. Won't go into it. I did not have the problem before I rebuilt the drive train. I do have some good information. I talked to SOR's tech line and they suggested that I unbolt the converter from the flex plate and rotate it 180%. Going to try it this weekend. Will let you know.

And upcruiser, no humming.

Had a friend do the work for me. Rotated the flywheel. Problem solved. No more vibration. It was explained to me that there may have been a orginal alingment point from the factory and when I had things rebuild it may not have been put back into that alingment. Now I am a happy man.
