tearing down a 69, perplexed with these turn signals, I guess they are factory, but not sure. I saw a post yesterday by 3 puppies that showed a 69 with turn signals similar to a 72 I have. maybe these were put out earlier in the year?
I don't guess replacement lenses are available, these are cloudy. the fender aprons have elevated bumps where they are installed so Its not going to be real easy to use later model ones, any great ideas out there?

those are indeed early model...you might check eastwood or someone for a plastic polish kit. a couple of the fleets that used to buy headlight from me left and right are now just polishing them to get rid of the haze.

yup, my early 69 piggy had them. i liked'em so much i have fitted motorcycle turn signals to mine trying to mimic the look.

Rare, and nice! You must have the grille turn signals, too.

:)

I think those are the first year only, the 69 in the other post is dec 69 so it would be a 1970 model year

70 series

Wayneraintree,

Evan is one of those guys that can seem to get anything to work.... I don't know how he does it. I bought 70 series reproduction lights from SOR that didn't fit, so I bought original takeoff lights from Canadain mine trucks and they still didn't fit. I am not sure the exact model that Evan used, but once again beware, Evan is one of those guys that has the crazy ability to make everything fit and look good.

Ryan.

70 series have been used by Evan... but if your intention is a stock driver, run them with the pride of a pig:D

notice the trimming that evan did to get them to fit ;) looks good :)

I just bought a later '69, bummer it did not come with these. Also, there is a Dodge Raider pickup from the early 80's (the small pickup) that has front side marker lights that fit perfect in the spot under the headlights, also per early FJ55. I did this on my last piggie, here is a pic. Worked great.

Also I did VW turn signals on the past pig. Some say it is sacreligious (whatever IMO) but others say it looks great and semi OEMish which I agree with, even though of course they don't look anything like OEM. Just that they "belong" there :)

Anything fits properley folded , .
Mine were cheep 70 series copys, lenses are brittle and yellowed ,. But following in the old 55 lists suggestions i took them and heated the lower inside where it contacted the fender just enough with a heat gun to make it soft and pushed it into the fender to custom form it to fit exactley the fender shape , then reinstalled the gasket and bolted them suckers on . Some pics are up on birfield .
I have a oem set to be installed if i can get off my lazy a## and paint it . i just cant seem to find the right motivation .
Ryan yours is now my goal , to make it look as good as it runs . Crap my hats off to Nial as even he is not as scared of paint as i am .
Evan.
