Recently purchased retractable seat belts for my '83 FJ 40 and struggling on where to mount. Running the hardtop without the roll cage and long bench seats. Mounting hardware supplied looks to be for the roll bar attachment points which I don't have. If I mount at the back of the seat the seat belt extensions stick out so far the belts don't hold tighten on smaller people and lower ones interfere with folding the seats up. Any suggestions? Pictures greatly appreciated.

I went with the retractable just keep things neater and to have one less thing clanging around. Most likely will exchange for the adjustable.

Would have been easier to add retractable seat belts with US model short jump seats. I have a 73 which the seat belt anchor are at the front and then 2/3 back which I find interesting. Had an aftermarket roll bar that covered the top of the wheel wells. Luckily came with the jump seats and holes for the seats and seats belts were filled with bondo that came right out. As far as I know 7/71 rear lap belts were standard/required for rear jump seats in the US. The thread on these is SAE not metric. Other markets were all different and some may have never required seat belts for the jump seats.

Mine is an '83 and imported from the middle east, I don't think it ever had seat belts as the anchor bolts are much smaller and shorter. I am going to use the same anchor points as the seat but with a longer bolt. It does have threaded holes that seem to align with the frame for a short jump seat so guessing that might have been an option.
