Then I fixed a used rear flare I purchased with some epoxy. Used some more silicone around these mounting points also. Inside and out...

Started on my dual battery installation. The main purpose of my second battery will only be for an emergency jump. My fridge and other ACC's will run on the starting battery. I will not be installing a self jumping switch, but instead rely on jumper cables that I always carry.

Parts list:

Optima RedTop Starting
Sears DieHard Platinum Marine Battery Group Size 31M
Blue Sea Systems Solenoid SI Series (120A 12/24V ACR)
Slee washer bottle relocation kit
New OEM passenger side battery tray
2 AWG welding cable
16 AWG wire for Isolator ground
Two 100 amp Bussmann circuit breakers
1/2" split loom to protect cable
5/16" and 3/8" battery lugs
Four military style battery terminals

Removed necessary items.

Relocated washer bottle.

Installed battery tray. Only three bolts installed as of this pic. The battery tray kit was supposed to come with all the hardware, but the five bolts for the tray were missing. Replacements are on their way in the mail.

Which Blue-Sea isolator are you running?

Great, that's the one I am looking at. Subscribed.

I am using this lug crimper for all the cable ends. Makes for a really strong crimp.

Measured, measured, then measured and cut all the different cable lengths that I would need. All the 5/16" lugs installed, waiting for my 3/8" lugs in the mail.

At the same time I will be replacing/extending the factory block ground cable and battery to fender grounds with the 2AWG.

I removed both battery trays and the center radiator support. This will make it easier to install all components and run the cable from one side to the other. My ground for the second battery will be connected directly to the primary battery. Both the + and - cables will run through here.

The Isolator mounted to the fender.

Refurb'd factory hold down but doesn't quite fit the new battery. Purchased longer J-hooks, but they are standard thread. Anyone know of an OE equivalent J-hook that will work for this 31M battery? Going to make a hold down. Field trip to HD!
