Replace distributor O-ring

Replaced distributor O-ring today. Turned out to be very easy to do. Just need an 8mm for the 3 screws holding the dist cap, and a 12mm for the one bolt holding on the dist. After that it was just a matter of wiggling it out, cleaning up oil, installing new seal, and wiggling back in. I marked the distributor before removing so I could install back in the same spot. As well I noted the orientation of the rotor. Thanks to other threads with pics I could do this with my eyes closed!......So I will contribute some pics as well.:)

Step two in oil leak removal finished:bounce:

Installed CDL switch. Purchased a used Toyota hazard switch off Ebay for a few bucks and it came in today. Found the connector behind the panel pretty easy. I did notice the hazard connector and the CDL connector had different orientation groves, so I had to remove a little plastic on the male end for them to go together. Tested after install and it worked like a charm...:) Talk about bang for your buck!!!

Metal Tech Sliders

:wrench:Metal Tech sliders installed:wrench: One person job, as long as you have three jack stands...Just be careful with the U-bolts and the brake lines on the drivers side frame rail.

Great progress in a short time.

Thanks. It has been fun working on it, and I am happy with my results so far. Think it is time to take it somewhere now...:steer:

Oil Leak Update

Just thought that I would add an update on my oil leaks....When I first got the LC, it would leave a pretty good size puddle of fluid on the ground under the rear of the engine and the front of the engine. Also, everything under the engine was covered in oil......I figured I would need to replace just about every seal considering how bad things were. So I started with the two uppermost common leaks, the valve cover seals and the distributor seal.

Since replacing the seals in those two areas and driving the LC for a week, there is only two quarter sized spots on the ground near the front. Near the rear the oil and trans pan stay a little wet with fluid, but I am thinking most of it is fly-back from the front that is still leaking and the pan gaskets. There is no longer a puddle under the rear of the engine. Never the less, I will still be replacing the rest of the seals to make this baby bone dry.

Fixed pending O2 sensor code and lubed her up!

Had a pending O2 sensor code when I bought the LC and the MIL would come on intermittently because of it. After I drove the LC home and was looking in the center console, I found a brand new O2 sensor in the box. Can you say score!!!:D

:wrench:So today I finally replaced the O2 sensor, topped off the knuckles and lubed the joints....:wrench:

I have come to the conclusion that I cannot live with the extra noise and vibration from the front drive shaft after installing the 4" lift. Hopefully to fix this problem, I will install a dc shaft I have ordered from AJIK Overland Exchange. I also purchased their PHH kit that contains an upgraded hose and constant torque clamps. They ship really fast, as I've already received their PHH kit.

Those look awesome.

Keep up the hard work- it's lookin' great so far!

Nice work and I wish I thought of looking at sliders on syber monday! Doh!

Yeah I couldn't pass that deal up! I was going to wait a little, but that wouldn't make any sense.:grinpimp:

Anyhow does anyone have a video showing how to change out the phh or is it just easier to have professional help?

I don't know of any. From what I can see one would just take off and put on, but just in a very tight spot. You might have better luck posting that question with a new thread, rather than in this one though....

Test drive with front drive shaft removed.

So it looks like the DC shaft from AJIK should be here this Monday the 17th. To get ready for the install I removed the front drive shaft today. Since I did the center diff switch mod I was able to take the LC on a test drive in 2WD. I drove the LC all the way up to highway speeds and no vibrations, no noises and absolutely nothing!:) Hopefully all will stay the same with the installation of the DC shaft on Monday....

BTW did you put your PHH on yet?

BTW did you put your PHH on yet?

Not yet. Was gonna read up and see if I needed to drain the radiator, or if I could just take it off without much loss? Tried to do a search, but couldn't find anything as far as notes or a DIY.

Looks like a tight fit, but looks pretty accessible from under the drivers fender well when the tire is removed....
