So firstpig oldest known pig in the world finally arrived in its new pen. Can the pig experts tell me if these front indicators and lights below the headlamps were original? I've never seen another one with them.

Appear to be, based on pics of other early Pigs.

Think there were some with chrome housings, too.

Do you know which year did they change to the later style? Also the steering wheel. Mine looks like this. Anyone have a pig with steering wheel like this?

I saw a 69 before and it had the same wheel, nice pig!

Don't know if it's possible to narrow to a model year, since revisions and changes appear to have occurred at any time.

I've seen and had pieces of a '69 production year with the fender mounted lights and grille signals, which must be later in the production, because other '69s have the sideways lights, like yours.

Sure one of the resident experts can say what month it changed, because I can only speculate fall-ish 1969.

My '70 model had this steering wheel. My '71 had a different one so that narrows the timeframe.

Firstpig has a F motor and 3 speed. Do you know when they changed to 2F/ 4 speed. It has drop tailgate not barn doors and also driver vent windows. It is almost completely different car compared with finalpig.

Those all look to be original, except the lights I have seen under the headlights have all been amber color here in the US. Not sure what they would be in OZ.

The clear lens and the headlamps have japan and koto printed on them.

Side indicators have amber lens facing front and clear lens facing back. Both have japan and koto written on lens as well. Anyone got a spare set of lens for sale? One side is cracked.

I really like those blinkers! Very rare and I bet very hard to find good replacements.

Not sure, but the plumbers tape holding the boot on probably isn't factory. LOL

Well I finally found the plate in the engine bay. Here is proof that it is probably the earliest surviving pig. If anyone has an earlier one let me know.

For something to compare to. On my 68 the indicators are the same(amber), grill lights same(amber), steering wheel same but on the other side. I have a three on the tree style shifter, not sure if they did that over there where you guys got the first ones. That's a pretty low vin, I think that might make it the 31st 55. Your vin is about a thousand lower than mine. I always wondered if those screws on the id tag were factory. Nice to see another old one getting fixed up. -Steve

would anyone be interested in reproduction lens for these early side indicators and grill lights? Mine are in reasonable condition and I was thinking of sending mine to get moulds made. I was going to get the grill lights in clear but can't see a reason why they can't make them in amber as well.

Was going to get these rears sent of as well to make some reproductions.

You can still buy the early back up lights from Toyota. I've bought several sets here lately. As far as the grille lenses, there's a guy State side, who is supposed to be making some, still haven't heard back, though.

Are you referring to the clear rectangular lens or the round red one scrapdaddy? Can you still buy this amber/red rear lens from toyota?
