I am not sure if anybody will care, but here are some pics of last weekend's project. I wanted to get my rather large first aid kit up out of the way but keep it accessible, no matter what my load was. So this is what I came up with.
After taking a Wilderness First Responder course (70+ hours), I purchased a large first aid kit, Adventure Medical Guide 1. On the last couple camp trips I ended up stashing the kit in the footwell area of the second seat row. Not ideal.
So this project had 3 goals:
1) Put first aid kit in spot where it is out of the way, secure, and quickly accessible, even fully expo loaded.
2) Utilize my new welder. Do something fast and fun.
3) Do something with the hole in the D pillar that was left when I removed the third row seat belts.
The main holes in the piece are 7/8 inch (Milwaukee hole saw) . The bolt is the one out of the seat belt mech. Tightened to 32 ft-lbs with blue threadlocker. Rustoleum textured paint. The extra hole on the bottom of the "cross" is in case I want to attach a strap for something else. The piece hugs the interior tightly.
The two straps I used are rated for 330 lbs. each, so they should hold the ~ 4 lb. first aid kit in a frontal collision.
I have had it on all week. A small portion of the rear view on the DS is blocked.
