I am not sure if anybody will care, but here are some pics of last weekend's project. I wanted to get my rather large first aid kit up out of the way but keep it accessible, no matter what my load was. So this is what I came up with.

After taking a Wilderness First Responder course (70+ hours), I purchased a large first aid kit, Adventure Medical Guide 1. On the last couple camp trips I ended up stashing the kit in the footwell area of the second seat row. Not ideal.

So this project had 3 goals:

1) Put first aid kit in spot where it is out of the way, secure, and quickly accessible, even fully expo loaded.

2) Utilize my new welder. Do something fast and fun.

3) Do something with the hole in the D pillar that was left when I removed the third row seat belts.

The main holes in the piece are 7/8 inch (Milwaukee hole saw) . The bolt is the one out of the seat belt mech. Tightened to 32 ft-lbs with blue threadlocker. Rustoleum textured paint. The extra hole on the bottom of the "cross" is in case I want to attach a strap for something else. The piece hugs the interior tightly.

The two straps I used are rated for 330 lbs. each, so they should hold the ~ 4 lb. first aid kit in a frontal collision.

I have had it on all week. A small portion of the rear view on the DS is blocked.

Cool. Great use of space. Also like your storage hatch in tailgate.....that is my planned next mod.

Great idea. !!!

A very cool use of space! Any plans to do a production run?

Only thing I'm missing. But at a grand I will use jumper cables and nipple clamps.

Most of the punk kids these days have the nipple rings already, so just hook the jumper cables up directly :)

Now that is funny. :) I can picture the look on the victim's face when they come around (the very rare lucky one that comes back after a stopped heart). The look would be something like: "WTF are these clamps, and how did they get there?"

NLXTACY probably has the bragging rights for the biggest first aid kit, but we could poll everybody...

Thanks guys. I just might be making another one soon.

Here are the straps I used. They release fast, but rate to 330 lbs. each. Cheers, Jon

Great use of space!

Do you think you'll have any issues with theft being in plain view like that?

Thanks. This little project mainly started with that seat belt hole staring at me.

Yep, potential theft is always an issue. Good point. My windows have the substantial OEM window tint of some of the later models, so it is not easy to see in back there, but one can see it if you look hard. And where the kit normally sat otherwise it was also in "plain" view. I typically hide most everything, but considered a first aid kit (assuming a thief knows what it is) as not a sexy item to steal. On the other hand, since someone bothered to steal the crappy spare tire/steel wheel off the rear of my Tundra in daylight in front of my office, I guess I could be naive.

I am mostly counting on the window tint to hide it. A blonde canvas bag around it would camouflage it pretty well.

I don't think my walk bag will fit either...

Funny, I am putting together a Bug-out-Bag (same as a walk bag?) right now. I think I will fab up a small bracket-hook that uses the two posts of the headrest in the 2nd row seats, so I can hang the backpack (bag) off the back of the seat. Not an original idea...

For the PS third row seat belt hole I am contemplating how to make a safe fire extinguisher holder.
