Unless it's a 3FE.....That's just fear mongering!
Although, the head gasket WILL definitely blow . . .![]()
I don't know about Toyota FIPG, but most rtv-type sealants that I'm aware of are cured by exposure to moisture/humidity. If you're having trouble getting it to cure and live in a very dry part of the country, it might help to - after bolting the part in place - mist the area with a spray bottle. Just a thought. Here in the PNW, a tube of gasket maker tends to be in one of two states: good, or already solid in the tube. There's also The Right Stuff (Black) by Permatex
The Right Stuff
Make sure that the tubes you buy of the stuff you listed are not expired.
There have been a few folks on here that bought it from the dealership, it was an expired tube, and it didn't work.
Bob when I have had issue is when the pan gets out of square from prying it off. Set the pan on something level and make sure the flange is straight stillAmen to that! I bought a tube of the OEM FIPG and it doesn’t work! I have sealed my transmission pan on my 80 for the second time and it will not seal and I thought it was me? I’ve done this service several times and have never had this issue of the FIPG not making a seal.
I threw this out there just in case Aisin could be a better product?
