Since I dont plan on selling mine I dont care which way it goes. I think they are going to have a tough time.

All original clean 80s will continue to increase in value. It’s up to 15,500.
Faded paint, cracked dash? Classy wood stick to hold up the hood.

Nice rig, but not $15,000 nice....

i need to sell of a few of mine then, this is just crazy what people are asking for them.

I mean, unless it bidder fraud (always possible), it seems more like it's just what they can sell for. If it's a no reserve auction it should just run its course as the market dictates.

And I assume if it's fraud then there are at least a couple real bidders in there. If not, why drive the price so high so soon?

I've got a 91 JDM FJ80 with a few nicks here and there, but about 80k miles... Maybe I should be listing on ebay, haha!

Edit: Anybody got $20k on 'em?

I hope it is a real bidder. FJ60's and 62's bring over $20k in similar condition. A rust-free original FJ80 has all the utilitarian charm but in a larger more refined package than a 62. I like the basic, simple, nature of the FJ80 vs the newer FZJ80 with leather and polished off set wheels. It is really just a personal choice, but as the years go by the simple, basic rigs seem to age better in my eyes.

Here in the PNW, cruiser prices are a little high. That being said, I have not seen any FJ80s going for anywhere near that price. The demand for them is just less than the FZJ80s.

thats good, cause in another decade, the fj80 will be the only 80s left with original motor still running....
I have had and do have several cruisers. All the motors have been super reliable. Currently have two FZJ80s, one has 230K miles and the other over 300K. Both still have lots of life left in them. So I don't think the 3FE last any longer. Both last a long, long time (just like my 2F cruisers).

Not with those wheels on it! 🤣

I've still got the stock 15's! Now can I have your 20k? Thanks

And I bought those when I lived in Japan because I wanted bigger wheels and it's tough to find what you want over there when you're a gaijin like me. I'll swap them out eventually when it makes sense to spend the money (as if sense is what we look to for outfitting our LCs).

no head gasket problem with the 4.5L?

There’s no way a 3f powered 80 series with faded paint is hitting that number. I’ve had experience with this seller and he’s grade A scum. More than likely the number is being bid up by himself. His name is Jimmy Marks and I can only assume he’s named after the infamous weirdo gypsy from Washington. Lying is not an issue with this guy. Don’t believe a word he says. Look at his eBay feedback

It seems that the story that most FZJ80 will have head gasket problems i think has been blow way out of proportion. If you'll take the time to do a search here on Mud, you'll find that there are a lot of FZJ80 owners who have over 300,000 miles on their trucks, and their still on their original head gasket.

Now that's not to say that some owners haven't had problems with failed head gaskets, but it's still not as common as many people seem to believe. My personal opinion, i think that more then one of those head gaskets that failed, was caused by an owner who didn't stay on top of their cooling system maintenance.
