Should have posted up soon about what I've been busy with. I picked up this guy last Monday:

Finally came up with a name on Wednesday....Scout. I tried Birfield, Yota, Fourty, and even Bronco, but Scout seemed to fit so much better. ;) Hopefully he will be accepted into UC, as least I didnt try Heep.

We were able to adopt him, was one of 2 left. He is 1/2 English Pointer, 1/2 lab, his body type looks like a lab and print like a pointer. He is doing really well with crate and house training, hope to get some obedience training in the near future. Still debating on which route we will take with training, etc. (Clicker?) Scout is a replacement for our last two dogs who passed away in the last 2 years, we still have one other dog, a 9 yr old female, but she doesnt do well riding, etc. I hope Scout will be a camping buddy and join in on some UC events.

His spot on the other side actually looks like a heart, need to get a few more pics of him up.

He is awesome! Glad you adopted!

awwwwwwwwwwwwwww.... you make a cute couple!

Even though Jack rides very well he isn't the most sociable dog, and Cruiser loves everyone but gets motion sick off road so do dog camping for me.

Very cool looking pup. Should be a great combo for tooling around in the woods with the family.
Enjoy!

Cool dog. Congrats. The main reason I even considered getting another dog was to have a camping dog. I'm determined to camp/ backpack one weekend a month. I'm pretty sure I've got Josie hooked and Jocassee isn't far behind.

Scout is really growing, I need to get him on a scale to see how much he is up to now. I would guess 25+ lbs. He has been doing really well, staying inside all the time and has taken several trips with us. I had him out last saturday when I was workign on the 4runner and he got tired and wanted to go inside for his nap. Spoiled already, yes.

Crate training has gone well although I need to work on some commands more with him. I really hope to do that soon as he does well, but if he catches scent of something he doesnt respond well to come. :) Must be the bird dog in him. :bounce:

Few pictures I took the other day with my phone. Notice his heart patch on his side.

The kids love him and I think he is doing really well with them, need to get out more with him in the mornings before I go to work so he wont be quite as excited when the kids get up.
