I live in rural Georgia and passing these log trucks on the back roads has always been an issue with this truck. quote]

Hell, you're gonna be looking for stuff to pass soon enough!

My auto trans should have 1-2 yrs max left on it, and a 5.3/6.0 will take the 3FE's place when it does crap the bed. That's sayin something, because I've been a Mopar guy much longer than a Cruiser guy.

Dawgdaze
Thats gonna be a fun rig...I eyeballed it at the stripper party last weekend
You gotta be trying hard to total a Buick with 0k on the clock;)

Keep us posted on the progress!

More pictures. Got the ft shaft mocked up and in place. They had to clear the oil pan and the transpan but they say it looks like it will all fit no problem. The pictures were all taken w/ the suspencion fully compressed so nothing should get closer than you see it.

SOOOO, someone mentioned the camaro pan?
What is that, and where to get one and what the advantage?
Would someone who is SOA have the same DS clearance issues as someone SUA? From the pics, it looks as if the rig were SOA it would be a non issue, but SUA looks to be some pretty confined quarters.

This will fit the 5.3 from what year ranges?
Is it worth the additional work and parts tracking? Is it a direct replacement, or do modifications have to be made to make this type of pan work?
Any idea as to what the whole (oil pan) assy. will cost?

Thanks for posting those #'s up!

Beautiful!

Wish i had one.....

Sometimes I feel that my engineering job sucks when I see the kind of work some people are lucky enough to have. Looks clean so far. Beautiful.

UPDATE >>>>>>

Ok so everything is mostly buttoned up and ready to go. I know this project has taken forever but it there are about a million details to get figured out so that everything looks and fits the way that it is supposed to. We figured that it was better to take some time as opposed to getting it out the door unfinished and having to track down problems over the phone w/ a customer that is a few hours away.

Specs:

All Aluminum 5.3 w/ a 4L60 and a AA to the stock split case. The ECU and harness was built and modified by Fuel Injection Specialties and after some problems finding the correct gas peddle everything seems to be running just like it is supposed to. We installed Toyota Sending Units so all of the stock gauges work w/ the LS engine. We also added a Rheostat to recalibrate stock Tach.

The A/C works great once we had some custom Hoses made and added a bracket to the bottom of the compressor to keep everything from moving around.

The radiator is a new unit from a 60s mustang that we had a bleeder return nipple added to. We also installed dual electric fans to keep the air moving. It has ZERO cooling problems even w/ the A/C Cranked up in the summer.

Procar Front seats
New MAF Carpet Kit
Tuffy w/ 100amp switched 12v Aux Fuse panel
AC Inverter under Pass Seat w/ aux plug in cargo area.
Pioneer GPS / DVD / Everything Head Unit
Bluetooth Mic added to dash.
Alpine 600w Amp
Cobra CB in console
Infinity speakers in the front doors as well as Components in the Cargo Area.
90s Sub w/ Box (Joe had it at the house but it still sounds darn good)
Dual Batteries (second Bat powers everything that isnt part of the factory or engine harness)
