Nice Work! Can this be added to FAQ?

Also, are the three screwdrivers used in place of the SST on the rear axle rebuild?

Awesome! Been waiting for the rebuild portion. Thanks!

Richard

Thanks, when starting maintenance that's not done so often, it's nice to have quick refresher video to watch before hand. I really appreciate your effort it, makes diving in a bit less daunting.

Dan

Thanks guys, Dan that's true and I even refer to my own videos as well! Helps me remember where everything goes!

Just curious why you mention to 'ensure you lock the rear diff. before pulling the short side axle...' in you rear axle rebuild.

The FSM doesn't mention it. I just did this service last night and I did follow your advice, what are the concequences if you fail to lock?

Awesome

unfortunately you put things back together wrong.

Working from the spring perch out

Felt gasket
rubber gasket with ridge facing felt
Steel split ring
knuckle housing

From what I've been told, the same mistake was made on the DVD that's out there as well.

IMHO this video is good to get a general overview but anyone who's planning on doing the front axle service needs to read through the FAQ section thread and others on this topic and print out the tools, supplies and torque measurements needed. The video skips some things, like removing the ABS sensor before you pull the driveshaft/birf if your vehicle has ABS. Also the dust shield was left off and the grease used does not look like Moly fortified grease?? Were the birfields repacked?? Wouldn't want a complete newb (like me) to dive into the job without being properly prepared.
