hope to have the lights in hand by the 26th.

Wouldn't count on it. Only a few folks on tacomaworld got their tracking numbers last week as promised and those that did reported the shipper hasn't yet received the package to ship.
 
Yeah...I was never in any hurry to get my lights - still not in any hurry really but its pretty dissapointing to see how this whole thing played out.

I recommend everyone calling him and leaving him a message. Also, send him an email. He needs to know this is starting to get serious. Bitching about it in the forums has proven to be ineffective.

Since it would seem it's unlikely that I'll get our lights this week, I went ahead and sent an email. I'm not in a "hurry" per say, but we'd like our lights for events we're doing and I didn't sign up to wait. ;)

I am still holding out hope that it is his time to come through. Yes, he might need to eat a few fedex fees, but it really is the only way he can turn the corner on this one...

did anyone else get an email from troy? I got one on the 20th asking for my correct shipping address. I assumed this meant something good, as in I would get shipping info soon, but nothing yet....

I've held my breath long enough. I've filed my complaint with Paypal to get my money back. After repeated emails, phone messages, and PM's without response, I've had to pull the plug on this. I'm a member on all the forums that he had this group buy on and everyone is ready to torch this guy. I can only give someone the benefit of the doubt for so long. At this point, you should seriously consider doing the same thing. I do not want anybody to get screwed.

I talked with you last week and you told me I'd have my lights this week after all the other delays outlined in the IH8MUD thread. I don't see how I'd get the lights by weeks end. I feel like we've been super patient thus far and although I do want the lights on our rig, I'm curious if I need to just get the money refunded from the credit card co for failure to deliver or can you actually give me a delivery date? To be clear I'd prefer the lights, but I can't afford to keep waiting cause we need the lights for events. Thank you for your attention on the matter.

If you used paypal, you better be willing to just wait. They have a 45 day period in which you can contest a payment .

My 45 days ends tomorrow. I had no choice. I called him twice today and left messages to try and get me proof on shipment. No replies to my emails today either. Last I heard from him is that I should expect them before this Friday. Without shipping confirmation, I could not trust that they would be here in time. That is what really worries me about this whole thing. Most people paid around the same time as me. Your 45 days might be up!
 
I just sent an email to Troy. The Tacoma board is ready with pitchforks and torches at this point. It appears they might be right. I want these lights as much as anybody else but no communication is the worst thing to do.

Hoping for the best but planning for the worst. Group buys always seem to end badly these days....
 
As the first member to offer a LED Light Bar group buy on IH8MUD, maybe this will wake Troy up a little bit and bring him back to reality. The facts are Troy is late on shipments, has not been responding to PM's, and has not shipped out products to the majority of his customers. There are a lot of things that can go wrong with importing from China. With a overwhelming order placed by "Treklights", a lot can go wrong. The manufactures generally make lofty claims of being able to produce 10,000 units per month, in reality you'll be luck to see 1,000 units produced (spread that out between individual orders, companies, and large group buys). With a order as large as Troy's, I wouldn't doubt the factory had to hire people, and work over time. I hate to say it, and I really do, but if one expects to clear customs with 30K worth of products from China, be rest assured they will be inspecting every single box that is checked on the paper work, and if one is wrong, well...it has to go back to the origin and reshipped (been there...done that) ....LED's are Harmonized Tariff Schedule 8541.40.2000. LED Light Bars are not DOT approved (not Rigid, Vision X, Pro Comp, etc), which means they are classified in another category. The government has categories of risk levels, depending on the application, they can range from low risk (pencils, clothing, shoe laces, etc) to high risk (auto parts, TV's, LED's, etc). Unfortunately, for us (Troy and I), we are in the "high risk" category. This "risk" category also applies to PayPal. Automotive parts are a extremely "high risk" according to PayPal. That being said, for each participant in the TrekLights Group Buy that files a refund or complaint, it only slows the process. Troy must contact PayPal and inform the agent (if he has one) of the situation. If there is a dispute claimed it will delay the process even further (allowing the company to utilize the funds, and pay for the release of the products assuming customs is holding them).

I haven't talked with Troy in a few weeks, he did PM me and express that he was overwhelmed and swamped with orders. I would not bad mouth Troy, after what my brother (George) and I went through with 54 orders (MUD orders). I could only imagine what Troy must be going through (nearing 200 orders). Not only is the manufacture overwhelmed, TrekLights is overwhelmed. I am sure they are doing everything in their power to get this back on schedule. Things happen, people understood when I missed my first shipping date. I am grateful for that. I was getting close to 20 PM's and 50 emails a day, I was beyond overwhelmed and wanted to hit "Refund" to everybody. I didn't, I stayed in it and carried on calmly. It all worked out nicely, everybody got their product a bit late (10 days), however it was delivered. I have faith in Troy (although a slight competitor :flipoff2:) that he will get this corrected.

Sorry, but I know what it's like to get swamped with work and I can guarantee I don't sleep until my job is complete and my customers are happy. I don't buy it. Go look at the Tacoma forum and see how pissed off they are. I did not post anything until today, holding out and giving him the benefit of the doubt. But to ignore all the calls, PM's, emails, and posts regarding this group buy is absurd. I was flat out lied to, then ignored. As was the rest of the people on this group buy.
So, you may trust Troy and Trecklights and feel sorry for him being overwhelmed but I will not. How much money do you have sitting in a promise that you'll have lights sitting on your doorstep tomorrow?:idea:

I failed to realize he hasn't been on this site in 8 days, and you guys aren't the only ones. I retract my statements regarding my faith...my group buy was overwhelmed, I'm not quite sure what this one is anymore. If you're still within your 45 Day PayPal period...do what you think is best. I know I would be disputing.

You have been highly recommended by a good friend of mine so you will have my business once PayPal gets my money back. This is what Treklights is really missing with this. All it takes is communication, and resolving the issue in a timely manner. Your GB was tougher than expected but you recovered, and earned more business because of how you resolved the issues. So instead of Troy manning up and taking care of this issue, I'm requesting my money back, and will never do business with him again. Funny how it all works out. :bang:
