Got 90% of the main hoop welded in. My plan is to close it in next then come back and finish the roll cage.

@StucknKS came over and motivated me to get the body mount frame done. The horizontal plate is three eights plate welded to the body and the vertical is also three eights with a notch cut out to be tight above and welded to door seam. The mount was the original one just moved to this position.

thinking about doing the splice of frame a little differently.

Look at 1:42 of this video. (before you see this... it would take a set of mucho brass set to do this to a brand new rig.)

Recall that the frame is basically two C or U channels welded together. Looks like they cut the two halves of the frame with a 6" offset. Since I have the extra frame sections this might work nicely and it would make it that the frame cut have 6" overlapping sections.

I could still do the inner sleeve as I planned, be able to weld it much more, then add the two halves.

Had a great afternoon with Josh in the shop. We were able to put the seat in and start testing where the rear will be. Feel pretty good about the spacing. I'm 6'2"and with the seat all the way back ( not stock seat -- so it is a good 4 inches back from stock) it is still a few inches away from the glass. Looks like good room for the taco gussets on the top of the roll cage, so those are ordered. I also know where the floor will need to go to, so I can reinforce underneath and start adding metal. Pictures below are before the final position was determined, which is about 1.25 inches further forward at center. Also going to try to bring the top about 3/4 inch forward.

Stole some brackets off another scrap to make the support that will tie to the rocker section and go right underneath the Sequoia hatch. Also bent up some steel that will go up to the hatch and make the box been to tie into those supports

Also was able to adjust the top of the hatch to bring it in tight. Raised about a half inch and brought it in about a half inch.

Got my order in from ruffstuff. Somebody was extremely concerned about this 2 pound box getting damaged. Four of those bands around it and doesn't have a square centimeter that wasn't taped. Only disappointing. Is that these are not as advertised.

Opening is 1 3/8. Not even close to the 1.8 it says.

Last time I bought anything from ruffstuff it was some rear fj40 brake adapters. They were bent incorrectly, and Dan never sent replacements.

Just frustrated, and disappointed in this company again.

That's weird. I wonder if they sent you the wrong part? Or are they squished a little? Can you spread them and make it work?

Don't think I can spread 1/2, especially where they meet the tube. The other diminsions were correct, so I don't think it is wrong part.

I emailed Dan. Will see what happens.

Found a few hours last couple days to get out to the shop. Decided the taco gussets were not going to work so cut some tube for the top corners and burned them in. Then got out this morning and started to weld the Sequoia gate in place. I'm actually welding the top of the tailgate to the inner structure I added. Once I get that fully welded, I'll go back and shrink the top skin and weld to fit.

More time in the garage this a.m.

I was planning on bringing the structure up underneath the inside of the Sequoia tailgate, but decided to maximize storage space to go back as far to the bed that I could go. Thinking we could put speakers in this area And space for stuff.

Unfortunately there was a bump In The middle where I wanted to mount the structure for the door so I had to heat up and beat that out. However, it was worth the extra effort as the braces look factory in place. Was able to get the new piece cut and rough fit that will box in the bottom of the door.

1st gen tundra had one I think...

Got the channel/rear tacked in place, bent the piece for the bottom. The last picture gives you an idea of the space where creating there's about 4 inches tall .

Good idea on the third brake light with LED cargo light. I'm going lto need something similar. I'll await your review!

Late night in the shop, got some welding done and finished bending the bottom piece. Love this flange - punch.

Always buying cool tools right before your birthday. Never get a chance to give your wife any hints on things to get you.:bang:

I will take care of that problem. I have my eye on a new AC welder @Mieser introduced me to so I can TIG aluminum.
