Dan you amaze me with every response you give, and now that I own a lexus I am scouring the lexus boards for your cousin.

So there was a difference in the model years for the style lamp? I see that from the link given earlier in the thread to the one in Dan's pictures they look totally different.

Alright, I would say I am about halfway?? I am really taking my time, I have all weekend, I figure things go better when you do not have a deadline. I am waiting for my buddy to come over to help me take the headliner out and move it to the ping pong table. I was unable to disconnect the map light/sunroof control wires but I figure it will fit through the hole. I was also unable to get the panels off behind the front seat belts but I loosened them and I should be able to get the liner out with them loose.
Up next will be to find out if I have to run wire from the middle row light or if there is a wire to tap into from the driver side rear pillar.

Well from what I can tell there is no wiring that extends all the way to the middle once un-wound. The wiring I found both sets gou out to the lift gate. So I am going to tap into the middle row lighting wire. Since I already have the headliner out I think I will connect the wiring in just behind the driver door where it turns to hit the middle light. I will then run the wiring up in the roof along the side and then across the back to the new light.
I definately plan to do a full write-up on this with pics since many others leave out many details that cause all of these questions.

IIRC these are only available in gray for 95 and older, correct?

OK, just a quick little post before I do my own thread with complete details and photos. The older style light is much brighter than my newer lights in the middle and rear rows. And that's with a frosted bulb that was sent with it. So if you don't care about matching then I would go with the older lights. Plus with the older light the frame is much smaller and you don't notice the gray as much or if you paint it like I did it is a very simple paint job and almost impossible to screw up.

Here are some shots from my installation:

Note George's custom Luxon LED in the lower pic.
Dan,

Will the dome light from a 80 fit in the same location and plug into the stock harness behind the headliner in my 93? If so will the switch work with the on/off/door? Was the one you installed a JDM unit?

Thanks
George

I used a dome light from an 80.........A rear dome light for a 91-94, without third row seating. the front lamps will not work properly.

The existing harness is switched by the tailgate and the rear lamp is powered when the tailgate is opened (unless you have it switched off at the lamp).
