I stumbled on a fantastic tire review. High analytic value and high production value.

It’s an extensive test that isn’t too narrow in focus. What tire would win if he tested on a 200? Would it have been the same?

Not surprised about the Contis based on all the great reviews, especially when in wet, noise and comfort level. I wish they can in a SL 275/70r18 or a 295/70r18

Thanks for sharing that! A rare back to back comparison across multiple use cases. Too bad the more aggressive AT suspects we like to discuss here weren't all represented. Nitto got a bad rap with practically the oldest tire in their portfolio being put against modern designs. It's time for them to put it to bed.

I believe they are phasing it and the Recon is the replacement. If you look on the Nitto website, you see the Recon picking up a bunch of new sizes while the G2 is losing them.

Thanks @Itsky, you beat the youtube algo for me at least. Good find.

Yea I was bummed to see that this was only for the more "light weight" A/T offerings. The G2 is and has always been trash, they should have discontinued that tire years ago.

I browsed the channel and its very street oriented, good on them for testing these ATs despite them all being Passenger tires though.

My test lineup:

BFG - K02 ( or it could be argued the TT is the real mild hybrid here)
Yoko - X-AT
Toyo - AT 3
Nitto - RG
Falken - WPAT3W
Cooper - AT3 or Discover Rugged ( seems like they have a lot of model overlap)
Goodyear - Duratrac or Ultra Terrain (same story as cooper)

These are the *mild hybrids* from all the reputable pedigree manufacturers and what I think are all great choices for the 200.
Preferably all in C load if available, but E would be fine too.
That should really stamp out a lot of banter here, but at the same time the aggressiveness of the lineup is not all equal.

Personally i care a lot about wet traction, and most of the time reviews focus on snow which we don't get here.
No complaints from my Toyos, but im shopping 34s...

This test mirrors that of TireRack Expert reviews!

Toyo AT3 is way over-rated on this forum!! Really bad in wet. Noisy. For a newly designed tire, this tire has horrendous performance in two independent testings!! Toyo clearly rushed this to market.

Yoko G015 is great but bad on fuel economy.

Hmm, need to re-look at those Goodyears with Kevlar and Durawall sidewall!

I added some screen shots of the top performers.

Lots of missing photos Mad but sup bro? You still on the KO2s?

I don't know how its possible the AT3 they tested did poorly in wet. In ice and snow I could not believe the grip i had on the Ps i used to own.
I was climbing the steepest hills in town that were caked in ice with zero wheel-slip in. In just the rain I never noticed any issues either.

Wet performance on my LT-C are hit or miss though and highly susceptible to pressure change.
Running anything above 38 PSI it will literally walk out on you mid turn in any amount of precipitation, specially the light new rain.
Easy to recover with our trucks but still. Thats at slow speeds making turns.

It could be way better IMO but I dont have too much frame of reference here outside of milder tires (Yoko G056 and G105) both in P as I never put LTs on my 470.
Whats everyones opinion on best wet traction LT out right now? Thats one metric thats a deal breaker for me.
With the way people drive now, Im always nervous on the highway in the rain in case of any abrupt maneuvers.

Actually this might be my next tire.

Yeah, those do look nice! I am impress with the specs for sure! The only thing that i can see that maybe bothers me is lack of much siping in the tread.

I noticed the same thing actually on a few different tires I looked up.

For me its;
1) wet traction (siping)
2) comfort
3) never ever buying a fake sidewall tire again.

I shoulda just went KO2 from the beginning but I wanted something Japanese.
Oh well, 33s are too small after my sensor lift anyway.

Yokohama G015 maybe the ticket for you. The LT version looks nice! The P-metric version of G015 looks kinda lame. :D

Maybe also the Goodyear AT Adventure with Kevlar. Even tho it only has 2-ply sidewall, Goodyear has Durawall compound that is pretty strong. (Kevlar is only in tread.)

Pulling this up from last fall. Is this a credible site?

Looking for tire info as I need a new set shortly. Didn't consider the Conti but it sounds like it ticks the boxes for my needs. Yoko is on my short list too.

Anyone own the Conti A/T and care to comment?

G2's are some the worst tires I've ever had the displeasure of owning.
