I have a 10/74 40 with an F engine and I want to put a clutch on my fan, currently I am running the newer plastic fan...(5 blades??) What do I need to make this happen? Do I need a 2f water pump and the clutch?

Thought and suggestion are very much welcome.

You'll need the later pump w/o oil cooler outlet & w/clutch and a pulley.....

Why the desire to change?

a toyota pickup fan or an 87 volvo 240 d fan will work if the center is bored to fit the 40 hub. and should fit in your shroud. the bolt pattern is the same and with a larger center hole will bolt on . the volvo fan is nippendenso same as toyota and worked good for me .found this out because they were laying around and we needed a fan .if you do this check the bolt pattern before you buy and make sure its right good luck

I wouldn't think you would save that much gas for the trouble...but I could be wrong

+1

I have the stock fan clutch on my 1980 but would rather have a straight direct-drive fan. I'd rather have better cooling than the miniscule hp gained by the clutch.
