Family cage

I am looking at installing a family cage on my 40 and i found one for sale already ready to be bolted it but its coming off a 73' and would be going into an 80' fj40. Now my question is that will it bolt to my 80?

In theory it should.

With that said however, the fact that it was made for another truck there is no guarantee that it will even be close.

Who is to say that the other truck is not tweaked and that the cage was built around a frame and body that is not true.

There is also a difference in the front door thickness. If it was built close to the front doors, your doors will be wider, and you may not be able to shut the doors.

They can't be transplanted easily, unfortunately, unless your truck is perfect, and the donor is perfect. You are better off buying a new one and assembling or fabbing one locally. There's plenty of welders and benders in need of work with the drop in oil in Texas. I'm ordering one from Metaltech and will install later here in town.
