We'd love to get some feedback on the FG so--as we do every year--we can make improvements and create the best possible experience for our members.

I'm gathering from the posts that the FOOD was a big hit and we will use them next year.

I haven't heard any complaints about FnF this year, thankfully the facilities were improved, no water issues, and I hope having to not deal with Gretchen for camping directly was helpful. If not, please write those issues here.

I also am gathering that some might have liked more spotting and instruction from their Trail Leaders on the runs. This is solid input and we will address it.

Please let fly with your constructive criticisms and suggestions and we will do our best to take everything into account.

Thank you,
Dave

My only complaint would be to change the departing time from 9am to 7am, if the time is switch to 7 then we might actually be ready to leave for 9 :)

Other then that I thought it went really well this year.

I have been going since 1995 when it was catamount, and I feel that this was one of the best, if not THE best I have attended. Cheers to all that made it happen.

It was well thought out and well executed, and a good mix for everyone. The kiddie events were a really nice touch. I like the direction this is heading.

I have absolutely no complaints.

Yeah i have to agree on that, leaving earlier would be nice.

Model-specific raffle prizes have to go. If you buy raffle tickets you should be able to win the raffle prizes available.
I know you "made good" on the situation that happened this year....

I was wondering when this would come up.

so the IPOR skidplate was a bad call as well? It was for a stock 40.

The ruffstuff perches and ubolt plates would not work on an 80 or 100, so those should go as well?

I understand what you are saying about the tub, and it was unfortunate, but what I saw was a local vendor digging pretty deep into his own pockets to come up with a prize that most of us can't afford, or waited YEARS to get, and almost every 40 needs. I am pretty biased, as I am good friends with the vendor, and I know how much work goes into making one of the tubs.

I think you need to have model specific stuff, but can you really have a seperate spool of raffle tickets based on vehicle? That is going to be problematic at an event that has 40's, 45's, 55's 60's 62's 100 series and FJC's.

Edit: I can see how I would be pissed if I had won the prize and could not use it, only to have it taken away, I am just wondering if we eliminate all vehicle specific prizes would the raffle not be as appealing?

Wally's donation was very generous but it wasn't a "thing" so much as labor and materials and he only works on 40's. It had to be the way it was and we strongly support Wally's wishes on that.

We will figure out a better way to do this, I promise.

how about buying tickets individually for the big ticket items ?

you have a raffle for wally...ipor...etc.

not that you would want a wally to bring home...i think my wife would kill me if i bought him home :)

so you know what you are in the running for upfront

This raffle situation is not unique to YT. We have a similar situation every year at the NEA's Fall Crawl. Lots of Jeep crap and more and more people that don't drive Jeeps

So here's what they did. When people buy a raffle ticket, you give them both halves of the ticket off the roll. Then you have a bag, box, receptacle, whatever, etc. labeled with the name of a specific prize (Prize A, B, & C for example). If Prize B is something you want/ need, you put one half of your ticket in the receptacle for that prize and skip A & C. This way you can have model specific prizes, but no one gets stuck with stuff they can't/ won't use. It takes a little bit of extra pre-planning and set up but everyone seems to walk away happy.

Also for some larger, high dollar value, high demand prizes, (let's say a winch or set of tires) those raffles would get a higher price (say $5 a chance) and a different color ticket. This step is completely optional.

I'm a little unclear why I couldn't benefit from winning Wally's tub? So I don't have a 40, big deal. I announce that the prize is available, work something out with a 40 owner and now we have two winners for the price of 1 prize.

I held back from donating something that I make because it was model specific but after talking with Jason I realize it was a mistake. It's about helping the club raise money and who cares if someone wins my performance MAF housing and makes an ashtray out of it, he/she won it and it's theirs to do what they want with it.

I personally think that we should only except donations to the club for the raffle that doesn't have any restrictions on who wins it. And if someone donates a prize, regardless of value, we should politely thank them for their offer but decline. After all we are not a model specific club so there is no reason to single out any one model group to receive greater valued or number of prizes than another.

looking at the prizes raffled off this year I'd have to say that basically the winch and tub jar would be over flowing and the other prizes not so much.

mmmmm
tough subject that raffle

rick's words were well put
you win whatever is up
this is how most raffles I have attended have worked
there is usually a bunch of trading/selling prizes afterwards
maybe Harry would have built a 40?
save that pristine 60 for lesser evil?
Is Gary building another 40?
sounded like he had other ideas.....
I think Mark W does have a 7840...
who can say

my only other notes
at other events, the driver's ticket, the one received with registration of vehicle, is a grand prize ticket, ie winch, tires, tub
giving incentive to registration maybe?
then who dtermines the grand prize?
not sure if that happens alot, just have seen it

at Gsmtr one year they had three grand prizes, in envelopes
drew three tickets, had winners pass envelopes around until happy, then open
that was fun:popcorn:

overall, event was well run,:clap:
we forgot to thank Mother Nature for the sunshine as well
it just needs to be a weeklong event and have an lv present

who here thinks Kina is the Love Guru?

being the seller of the tickets I think I wa sable to sell the amount I did by having all the prizes in the same pool. I think if you win somethink it is yours to do what you will with. if i had one the tub my dad was going to buy a 40 (or 25) to put it on. land cruisers are such an expensive hobby with each year in each modle being so differnt sometimes (what is interchangeable from a 78 to a 79 fj40 for example) to have a modle specific raffle would not work and I can tell you my sliding scale for tickets would be severly depleted.
I think there should be signs or more notification of the swap meet parts for sale areaI could see this growing into a cool forum. with individual and vendor showcases I bought a hole bunch of more cruiser junk cause it was there and i sort of needed it :)

I liked Rogers suggestion.

Right now my thought is leaning towards having the same color tickets for everything but the ability for the ticket buyer to place his tickets in either the big pot or 1 or 2 different small pots that are keyed to large, individual prizes.

This way, folks buy their tickets, keep both pieces, then put disperse them in the buckets at the raffle. If you want to put $100 worth of tickets in the Winch bucket, more power to you. :)

You win what you win. If we are fortunate to have another prize like wally's which is time and labor on a specific truck, you either sell or trade it with someone else or you use it within a set time period (1 year?)

We are also going to rent or borrow one of these next year.....

I agree. This is what I meant when I said there should not be model-specific prizes. I meant that the WINNER should not have to be model-specific... I did not mean the prize itself should not be model-specific.

Besides, we don't restrict a 40 owner from selling/trading a 40 specific prize that they win so why should we care if a non-40 owner does the same... and then we get into the situation of "well my brother has a 40 so I CAN use this prize." Does the winner need to OWN the vehicle? Does that mean it has to be titled in his/her name? As you can see the logistics of sorting this out would be problematic....

If I were the guy at FG that won the tub I'd have said "Yes, I do have a 40." (Hell he could have afforded to BUY a 40 once he had a great new tub to put on it...)
