Fall Crawl 2023 Discussion Thread - October 27-29

I'm aiming for a Thursday afternoon arrival

Packing is proceeding on schedule
5gal of water in the truck already
both propane tanks filled and in the truck
tables and stove station in the truck
*** cargo box is on the roof and tent/tables/chairs ect are up there
Kitchen box is all packed
Clothes / Toiletries are packed
either Wed afternoon or Thursday morning the rest gets packed up

*** Just have to run to the store for a few odds and ends for the meals.... i think one more pack of venison might be called for for Thursday's dinner.

Food prep will be Tues night..

I plan to leave the Catonsville MD area mid morning hit the Red Robbin by the Cove for lunch then arrive early afternoon for camp setup...


Thursday night I am making Mac & Cheese with Ground Venison w/ BBQ sauce... all you will need is a spoon I will have the bowls
@prharper said he will make corn bread

Friday night is Teriyaki Ground beef w/ Onions, carrots, Red Cabbage and Fire roasted corn served in lettuce cups. Just bring yourself and enjoy
@davidp14 will be making Mexican Street corn

... and of course HAPPY HOUR at the camp fire!

Saturday.... Club Burgers on the new Flat Top grill!!!!
and the Raffle Drawing!

Looking forward to a relaxing time and hanging ou with everyone!

I wish that I could be as proactive in planning and prep! As always around this time of year, my schedule is hectic.

Been a slow morning for work so I have the food list done just need to get plastic spoons snack cakes for lunch along with chips and I'll get the lettuce cups the day of so they are the freshest I can get

Also have the clothes all packed so that's done.

What can I say I am a planner and like to check things off of lists

Any thoughts on cell service at The Cove? I have a Tele-med call to take on Wednesday at 3:00...thinking I may just get myself to Winchester and stop for that before getting too deep in the woods, but if the service is solid, I'd rather be in sooner than later to get set up on Wednesday afternoon. If only @prharper were going to be there by then, I'm sure there'd be a gadget in that truck to make the call go through!

Solid advise.

your best bet is to stop in Winchester. There are plenty of places you can go. There is a Walmart on rt 50 just out of town and before the Cove. A couple of coffee shops in town.

I think the best bet is what everyone said stopping in Winchester. There is an overlook out on the trails we stopped at for a break one time that had good service. Phone blew up with text and emails LOL. In camp though it's iffy at best.

I'll be down mid-Friday. Got a parent/teacher conference that morning. The forecast has definitely flip-flopped a lot lately. Cold and rainy to sunny and warm. Showing 80 for Friday and Saturday now. That's a bit warm....

Filled the cooler yesterday full of ice to pre-chill it.
Last of the food has been bought
The already packed clothes have been changed in light of the new forecasted weather but still have some warm clothes as well just in case.


I just got done some food prep and have it all ready to get thrown in the skillet for Friday night
It is chilling in the freezer now...

3lbs ground beef with onions,red cabbage, carrot slices with fire roasted corn and teriyaki sauce (more to be added before serving)

Hope you guys will be hungry! If not I know what I'll be having for breakfast the next day .. or two!

T shirts and shorts during the day and a hoodie at night. Perfect
