My pump started whining after started replacement. It's a irritatingly high pitched whine like a dog whistle.
I hardwired the hewett bypass and haven't heard it since. One is the pump, forward, and the rear thing closest to harness is a control valve or switching valve thing I believe.
The block off plates are kind of a bitch, but not to hard to install. Hewett is pretty decent, they sent me an extra plate for free when I lost one. They're pretty proud of those things.
I found it later down by the lower control arm. But I can't get it out from where it's stuck.
-no I don't believe the pump is serviceable. The wheel gets damaged, so I've read. You have to take it out to replace the starter, in doing so some of those connector hoses will probably split open. Local parts stores have hose to match ID. (close enough)
If you spray water under the intake, down below the throttle butterfly for instance, it will collect in the valley. Mine was pretty clean under the air pump and stuff. The gunk on the outside is just 10 years of texas dirt, sand, leaves, spilled oil. Pretty nasty. It's an easy spot for things to collect.
-The inside of my intake plastic was 100% with black goo.
I didn't think much of it, there's lots of vac lines on that way too big air filter housing baffle chamber, air tube to butterfly thing. Mostly I think heat and PCV pulling garbage in.
That was a long day for me, no one here talks about taking off the plastic intake. I missed two nuts and took and hour to figure that out. BUT, if I took it off again it would take 20 minutes. All that and the started and two trips to autozone for hoses and clamps took me 8 hours.
In this pic you can see the new hose and clamp, new starter, broken yellow plastic wire holder bracket thing.
I hated myself for breaking that wire holder.
