I have my stock rack taking up space in my garage, and I may still have the drip rails. If you're local to the Bay Area I'll sell the rack.
I’ll pm you

I went thru the whole thread. I want to remove the roof rack on my 02 lx470 which has 4 mount points. I am clear on the removable and installing of sealant and bolts but I am a bit confused on the drip covers. Do I order 4 of these 75557-60010 and be done?

Correct. I have some that I took off when I installed a Gamiviti if you want them cheaper than dealer

Reviving this older thread with a question...

Ordered m8 x 1.25 x 20mm bolts to drop in once I get my rack removed. Unfortunately, they shipped 25mm length bolts...

Will these 25mm ones be too long to mount (thus allowing water in)? Or is there enough space underneath that I can just do a few additional turns and still create a watertight seal with my neoprene washers + sealant?

Thanks!

The roofrack bolt holes open up into the cabin, above the headliner. You’ll be fine with an extra 5mm of length.

When I removed my headliner last year for sunroof maintenance all these clear rubber balls came rolling out from above. Confusing, but turns out they were the extra blobs of silicone sealant that the bolts pushed through when I mounted my rack.

Thanks @Ayune! In that case, time to get wrenching.

Just wanted to make sure, sometimes an extra few millimeters make all the difference... YNWA!

Where are you guys ordering the molding covers from?

Also what Sealant do you guys recommend?

I would also like to know... I have an 06 lx and it's a little different underneath the covers. I'm wondering what kind of covers are needed for the holes and the gap in the moulding... Anyone have any information?

I believe that the same cover listed above is good for the Lexus too. I don’t believe that the rack footprint is any different than the Toyota one. Check the bolt size posted up earlier in this thread. Don’t get high profile spline nuts or torx style, the heads stick up too far for the covers to snap down.

I bought my hardware from McMaster Carr. I would have bought out the stock at Ace and still needed more.

I’m stripping down my roof to paint it white and replace the trim that runs along the windshield and over the roof. How do the rubber luggage bumpers come off the roof that run parallel to the load bars? I’m assuming they are in place with adhesive.

Assume you are talking about the inch wide rubbery cushions that run front-to-back on the roof ridges. If so, they are adhesive back and a pretty simple but time consuming removal. They will leave adhesive on the roof so you will have to address that. I used Goo Gone and a drill mounted 3M Eraser Wheel.

I second the 3M eraser wheel + drill. The strips should come off easily after sitting in the hot sun for a while, then buff off the remaining adhesive.

Thanks everyone. I will get working on it this week.
