Factory alarm question (1 Viewer)

I have the factory installed Toyota VIP alarm. When I lock or unlock the doors sometimes only the lights flash. Sometimes the lights flash and the alarm beeps. It just decides to beep randomly. I would prefer that it beep all the time. Has anyone experienced this problem. I can not find anything in the alarm manual that tells you how to deal with this.

Well I have a 40th anni also and mine does the exact same thing...Drives me crazy! But I have learned to live with it..Maybe someone has a clue why, or maybe do a search on it see what comes up...I never tried looking it up..Just lived with it...

It's the piezzo chirper that fails intermittenly. It's cylindrical object wrapped in a thick foam pad in the engine compartment; some where under the master cylinder, I think.

Do a search here, you'd find some info. & pictures; and contact cruiserdan for a new one.

mine was doing the same thing.
i went thru the t-shoot and found it was a bad chirper. replaced it with a nicer sounding unit from radio shack. around $4. i bought two at different frequency. both sound nicer than the old one.

My 97 does this too. I love it when it doesn't chirp. Damned annoying.

Mine has never chirped and that's fine with me. Agree that the noise would be annoying.

Mine did the same thing for a month or so then it just stopped completely. I prefer not having it cause its annoying having it work and then not work. The only thing I like about it is you know when your doors are locked when you press the alarm.
