Few more pics of quail hunting. First time hunter got his first bird. Best day ever! I love New Mexico.

So the inlet and outlet are both on the same side on an L83 GenV LT truck engine. I got a radiator already from Champion. Next is to start setting up the radiator hoses. I’m going to use -16 AN hose and fittings to run them. I’ll get adapters from autoplumb. The first step was to pull out the pressed-in steel neck on the water pump housing. It was a cock eyed size that wouldn’t adapt so I replaced it with a weld-in threaded bung.

Next was to replace the plastic factory thermostat housing with a cast aluminum one that has a better angle and is stronger. I mocked everything up so I know what sizes and angles to buy. Next step is to put it all together. Stay tuned!

So let’s get you all caught up. We had a birthday in February. Another teenager. Spring break at Sand Hollow and Coral Pink Sand Dunes. Incredible scenery and company. We had about 15 RZRs out in our group. Ran into a group of fellow Mudders on the Barracks Trail. Mainly 100s and 200s. Awesome guys.

Spring has finally sprung. The runoff has begun. We hit the hiking trail to enjoy being outside for a change. Wife was out of town so I had to break out the college student skills and make chili dogs. They were impressed. The dog got sprayed by a skunk. I hate my life. It was the best day of hers though…she got to murder a skunk and then spend the day at the spa.

Progress on the F-bomb has been slow. I buttoned up the cooling system. Got the wrong size hose clamps so I had to settle for what I could find locally. Just a step above baling wire. I’ve got some nicer looking ones on the way. It was a challenge finding AN fittings to get around the pulley but I prevailed. Spent some quality time at Autozone until I found the perfect radiator hoses to cut up. All in all I think it will work.

Did some assembly of the front end. Fenders, apron, and hood. All seemed to line up well until I put the hood on. The hood doesn’t really line up. I’m going to have to dig in when I have some real time To spend. It looks awesome from across the shop though.

Made a little progress this weekend. I found a nice universal intake kit from K&N. Made a simple bracket. I’m going to try and have it draw from the vent on the passenger side.

Progress has been slow. I can feel summer slipping away. Also found a little project to work on with my 13 going on 30 year old son. The price was right. It’s always interesting to see how other trucks of the same vintage as the F-Bomb are built…not worth a crap so far. We’ll see about the Scout.

Not sure if I ever got into the long story about my gas tank? I am tall and the only way I could sit comfortably with decent sight lines was to drop the seat frame down a bit. This made my fuel tank not fit and therefore required it to be relocated to the back. Well I finally got around to installing my new fuel filler. Not sure how I feel about it but it will work. I will probably move the factory filler back sometime in the future. I just like the OG. Also saw this badass car in Las Cruces. I used to have goldfish named Bo and Luke. Such a fan.

Also decided to pass on the green scout when this crossed my radar! This is for my 13 year old. We call her Freeborn in the USA. We started a build thread because that’s what you do. Best day ever!

Got the bezel and transmission hump back from paint today! Now I can get some more fabwork done with the shift linkage and button up the interior. Should have the hardtop installed next week. So pumped. When I installed the bezel I just had to stand back. It just looks right.

Got the hardtop sides on today. Crazy excited to see it on. It’s been almost 3 years. I spent most of the day in a strange broken bolt purgatory…or was it hell. Either way it sucked and none of the methods worked and I mangled the captured nuts. My time would’ve been better spent slugging myself in the nuts. That would’ve at least made me feel better. I will be using nuts and bolts on those 5.

A little distraction last week so no F-Bomb work. It was 104 by the time we got my brothers broken down. 4.5 mile hike back with a quarter on my back. Next day got mine by 9 about 20 feet off the road. It did not suck.

A few detail shots of the hardtop installation with OE gaskets. Started with aftermarket set and it wasn’t working for me so I switched to OE. Was not impressed with the aftermarket stuff.
