Small progress in the past couple weeks. Works been crazy. During the summer we white knuckle to try and keep up. Restored some headlight buckets. scrubb with scotchbrite and dish soap. Ran through the dishwasher. Primed and painted.

The crème de la crème is the bib mostly put back together. I’m still waiting on the bezel from paint. The bib lamps are LEDs from vintageteqpart.com. Also got the LED headlights from the same place. Both are genuine Koito parts converted to LED. I’ll have a full review of the lights when this thing is done.

Couple of progress pictures. My boy and I put the rear hatch together. New OEM weather stripping and the original glass. I was bummed to remove the very old Northern Arizona University sticker from the window. I'm currently working on rebuilding the doors. I will probably do all the weather stripping at once at the end. I've heard that job sucks. I will personally report at the end.

A few life pictures from the last couple of weeks. Giant water break on a city main showering the freeway with water, mud, and gravel. You can see how high the water was compared to the semi on I40. Picked up a new used van for one of our businesses. I sent that to my son so thats why I was doing my best Kardashian duck lips. My son Matthew is going into his senior season as the Varsity Manager on the football team. Maggie the dog doing what she does best. Love those pits. Once we sold the little Toyota Pickup (bummed me out) we had some money burning a hole in our pockets. That Blazer is our new project. 1971. Bought from the grandson of the original owner. Literally been sitting in his grandfather's barn since his death 15 years ago. Should be fun!

That blazer is real nice. Looks solid too. Im jelly.
It's pretty solid. 350, TH350. Bought from the grandson of the original owner but still titled in the original owner's name. Hasn't been registered since 2004. Supposedly its been in a barn since the grandfather passed away 15 yrs ago. This similarities and differences with the FJ which is basically the same year are interesting.

Updates today. Got the doors finished. Original glass. The window regulators were done so I bought new ones. The window felts and the door handle mechanisms are repop from CCOT. The outer rubber window swiper is OEM and the vent window is repop from Cityracer. I like how they turned out. I still need to do the outer weather stripping but I'll do that at the same time when I do the back lift hatch. The stuff I got is all OEM.

Couple of F-Bomb and life updates for you all. Picked up a sweet truck in Grand Island. Great road trip with the boys. Took the top off the K5. Trucks and women are always cooler with the top off. Football started and pulled a truck out. Living the dream.

Installed the in-tank pump into my Downey poly tank. Also installed the Downey skid plate which really puts a bow on the whole thing. That last picture is where the inlet pokes out. I’m going to attempt to route it to the factory filler. We’ll see how my idea works.

Got a little progress this past week. My 12 (going on 30) year old son installed the 4plus rear tire carrier. It turned out grea. The look of satisfaction on his face was priceless.

Putting together the steering shaft. It seems like it’s a little close to the frame. I’m not sure exactly how to get it to clear the frame. If I use the double jointed fitting then I need to add some sort of carrier/pillow bushing to keep it all straight. I could really use some suggestions on this.

What steering column is that? Can it be shortened? Can you put in a single U joint?

I think this is the correct path forward, if you shorten the column and use a single U joint it should place the steering shaft further from the frame. Then you just need to lengthen the steering shaft.

Essentially the joint should be closer to the fire wall.

Victory Ya’ll. I had a piece of 3/4 DD so I modified it to work in my telescoping shaft. So that produced a telescoping steering shaft with a way longer 3/4 side than the 1” side. This allowed me to trim it to fit up over and clear the frame. Turned out really nice I think.

Forgot to post up some holiday pictures too. Prime Rib on the Traeger. I can’t think of anything better. My son taking some apple cider to the dome. Also his final football banquet. Little coyote hunting with my 13 going on 40yr old.
