We'll be in a tent, Personally I'd rather camp on a bald if possible.
Have a new CB just need to install it.
Bette and I will be leaving on Wednesday and will meet you at the hotel
Thursday.

So what are the temps like down there this time of year? Shorts?
Bring bug spray?
30's still at night?

If anyone has a meter to adjust the CB antennae, bring it with you.
I've been running around town and nobody here does it.

I still hope to come, but have had a little delima.

Went wheelin' last weekend and knocked a hole the size of a golfball in my exhaust right where the exhaust passes under the frame rail. Also knocked two of the braces holding the exhaust in place off.

So, i am not throwing any codes yet but it is noisy as hell and vibrates like crazy. I really don't have extra coin to throw down on a new exhaust at this time. I thought about just welding a piece of a beer can over as a patch...

Alex, You could sleeve the pipe where the hole is and just add a few universal hangers for support. There are hangers at Napa that worked out real well for me in the past. Plenty of holes for mounting to the frame and setup for a regular exhaust clamp for attaching to the pipe.

Git R Dun!

It's already in the truck. If you want it for the weekend I can drop it in the mail, but you know how those guys are.

I'll wait until we get there, have no idea on how to use it.
Made the hotel reservations today.
Trying to figure out packing now.

Kind of hit or miss this time of year, but likely mid- high 60's during the day and mid 30's at night at worst. I'd check the weather forecast for Sylva before the trip, and cut 5-10 degrees for where we'll be.
Could be windy on the balds if that's where we end up. Doubt bugs will be much of an issue, but I'm bringing some spray just in case.

well, i'm on it!! :hillbilly:

Nice creative use of wire there! You are a true redneck artist!

i need to post some pics... I think i've got it wooped. I cut the piece out that goes under the frame rail and had the huge hole in it. Bought a piece of flexible exhaust pipe from autozone and some exhaust gasket putty. Drove it around today and no codes.

I will bring some extra exhaust wrap and anchor material in case this breaks loose on the trail.

Can't tell you how ready I am for this! Great place to go and I'm actually getting my wife and kid to come... that's a big accomplishment. Hope I don't regret it! :D

So how many rigs total?

Here are some pics of my repair. :hillbilly:

On another note. I need to make a phone call or two, but rumor floating around is that the "loops" have been closed at "the holy land"?!! Meaning they have closed a couple of the trails that lead from one bald to another, thus closing off a loop.

Also was told that you cannot camp on the balds anymore because they are there for "wildlife habitat". That shouldn't be a big problem if the group is a manageable number..... but the loop issue might put a little bit of a pinch of the plans. We can still make this work.

I will post up with any details i may find.
