ok I have seen some pics on the site that look great , long story short I am runnign big ole D60 axles and have some issues , wondering if you guys have any plans or sketches of your EXO projects , tube bumpers ? thinking on making some that tie to a fornt bumper and into rock sliders

I know this is bringing this from the dead, but I want to see some tube fenders on a wagon. Only set I have ever seen are these: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?p=168587&highlight=Peter+Straub#post168587
I know bad pick but I could not find better ones.

I was thinking of something where I could still keep my front lights and grill intact??? Did not know if it was possible, but just trying to think outside of the box.

Something similar to this (pictures pilfered from www.yankeetoys.org):

Im going to be doing something similar to gulfshores, except im going to skin the fenders over the tube and cut more out.

My plan is 36-37 inch tire SUA, with 40s coming when i SOA the truck.

Actually I think this truck belongs to fj6202840 or it used to. I just got the pics from the Yankee Toys website. I would love to have mine at that state.

So agent orange you are actually going to try something similar to MetalTech's fenders for the 40s? That would look pretty cool.

You should e-mail or PM Jim from Solid Rock Off-Road, who frequents this forum. (I’d be surprised if he hasn’t already fabbed an exo for a 60 yet!)

Yeah, i want to have a piece of tube run from my slider up the backside of the fender almost at the firewall, run across the top body line, then make a sharp downturn into either the side of the frame or a small stinger. Ill have to fab something up for an inner fender as a lot of s*** bolts down right there, but with the kind of trails i run i wont need a full length metal inner, ill just run something to keep the big rocks out. I might even narrow it just a bit, well see. I basically am gonna weld in a winch plate, run a stinger out a little ways, and have the fender and headlight protection be one big peice of tube. Id like to keep it as minimalist as possible. The rear is gonna be the tough part. I may relocate the axle about 2" back and extend the wheelwell out. Id rather have 36s and little uptravel than be dragging my diffs over everything like i do now.

You going to keep your front grill and lights stock or are you doing to dovetail the front? Its sometimes hard to see it without seeing it. If that makes sense. I just dont want to dovetail it b/c of figuring how to mak eit look decent/somehwat stock on the front. Esp with the square lights which I like.

I dont know, i really would love to see my truck narrowed about 8 inches. Ive though about it but its a lot more work than just doing the tube fenders. Im definitly keeping the grill and at least part of the lower valance. Id like to see if could run like half the stock headlight surround or something. I dont know, im gonna have to get my ducks in a row and find the time to settle down for some quality with the bender.

You need to go to the 4Runner section at pirate4x4.com. They have hundreds of exo vehicles. They also have a lot of people who have tubed fenders and dovetails. Post a thread over there after searching and ask a few questions. As long as you word your questions right you won't get torn up over there. Good luck. I plan on doing a full exo within a year or two or at least a lower half.

Exo cage and fenders

Check out IPOR's rockcrawler section. They did a 60 with d60/14blt combo, exo, etc.. it's awesome.

yeah I have been over there some. I try my best to just reasearch over there.

I do not want an exo but want to cut the fenders and make them part tube. (So part tube and part fender) Looking for ideas with a 60/62 seem to be the issue as no one is doing it. Closest I have seen is the guy on 53's in Canada, but he had a 60 with the entire grill reworked and headlights moved around.

I didn't click any links, but how about Al's (lowtideride) ride?

I will have to check out some pics of it I forgot about him but I think he just had an exo on the front.

Look for pics of TippyR also.

You see this Jim? I already told you I want some tubing on my bumper and thinking maybe extending from there to the sliders.

Of course it's still a waiting game for me.
