What are typical exhaust temps? I feel like mine are too high, but I haven't put an actual thermometer to it. I'm talking gas temp at the tailpipe. I can't even walk past it without feeling like I'm going to get burned. Vehicles in the past I can hold my hand to it and the gas feels almost cool. Thoughts?

I hooked up an obdII reader and it actually measure the exhaust temperatures at the cats. The temperatures were 685° during warm-up. If you have an OBD II you can do the same thing.

Mine are extremely hot at the tailpipe. Like hot enough to almost catch a jogging stroller on fire that was on a hitch packer.

I believe this is normal these days. It burns any fuel not burned in the combustion chamber for air quality reasons. Some of the new diesels burn so hot, the have to pull cold air back in before the tailpipe to keep the exhaust from buring people walking by an idling vehicle.

I'm not sure, I feel like I'm down on power like I'm running too lean or something.

you better use / run an AFR gauge ( aka wideband ) to determinate it .. rather than Pyro so see how are your EGT's ..

I think the power could have to do with switching over to summer gasoline and hot temps. I think my AFR is fine. I was just surprised by how hot my exhaust is

My exhaust is so hot I can't stand near the back either. I believe I am running extremely rich, flames aren't supposed to come out the back when I get near redline. I have heard people say I have 6" flames pop out when I down shift. If there is that much fuel that can produce a 13' flame there is way to much fuel being spent. The DT cat-back is nice, but I can't imagine it being that aggressive.

Any ideas on how to adjust the AFR?

FWIW, I can touch my exhaust after a 40 minute urban commute. I can't keep it on the tip for more than 1-2 seconds, but I can easily touch it without getting burned.

mine gets hot too. I found this out a couple of days ago while trying to fab a PVC exhaust stack so we could sleep in the truck with it idling. (before you flame, we have two CO detectors), but yeah, melted the PVC and it has a melting point of 221. That's pretty hot for an exhaust tip imo.
