Found several OEM exhaust systems but I can't find any 3" 'performance' exhaust complete systems.

I'm toying with the idea of a full exhaust system that extends past the rear wheel versus the old system which was 2.5" and dumped under the passenger seat.

Does anyone have a suggested system to use? For info, there's a Borla system that I've found but it's only for 95-97 apparently. (Mines a 94)

There arent many options for plug and play. Id buy the y pipe (which probably wont work wih turbo actually) the cats and the muffler and then take to an exhaust shop and tell them how you want it run.

I hated my 3" exhaust but was likely due to flowmster and poor quality craftsmanship. But it was cheap and done while i waited.

I agree with Jason, good exhaust work is worth paying for. Ask around and take it to the guy the hod rod guys go to. Yours is not a bolt on situation by any stretch of the imagination.

I had to return to your build thread (which is sadly on page 3 :( ) to make sure you were still running the 1FZ-FE. With the new turbo system optimally tuned with the back pressure from the existing system, it makes me nervous that you'd consider swapping the exhaust this late in the game. Are you not getting the HP that you wanted? Much bad can happen with an exhaust system with an excessively large diameter (I'm reminded of when I owned my '95 RX-7 and I watched kids blow their Wankels up because of a lack of proper tuning)... I'm not aware of any aftermarket performance exhaust systems; only systems that are a stock performance alternative to OEM. I'm 99% sure you'd have to go custom - and it would be costly and risky.

All that aside, it would be pretty awesome and your 80, as unique as it already is, would be even MORE unique.

Pretty certain it hasnt been optimally tuned for anything yet but a good point to have all systems in place before a final tune.

Maybe we go borrow it for a weekend and show dr tweeks what some concentrated effort can get done! Plus you could get your garage back ;)

Ah, see, that's how out of touch I am... I thought Biscuit had returned to James and was being dyno tested.

James, off the shelf exhaust won't work for you anyway. You need something custom to go from the turbo back.

Yup, and that's going to be tricky if you're objective is 3" AND not have an exposed pipe that a rock will crush. But we digress ..... doesn't the wizard tuner have to get it running first?

Ok so custom built it is.

So how about a suggested muffler that will tuck nicely into place and provide a nice sound? Jason suggested a Flowmaster 70 or 80 - will they fit?

I'm just trying to avoid the inevitable fart can exhaust note...and buying a muffler that won't tuck in nicely out of the way..

It's running.

I found a crack in the pre-cat O2 sensor mount, giving me codes so I took it to our local exhaust shop to get it fixed and re-route the exhaust over the frame to the existing Magnaflow. I also asked him to tuck the cat up and forward a bit so I could get better access to the frame for sliders to mount. He did exactly as I asked, happy with how its routed now...

Here is a pic of my custom job to a magnaflow (sorry, don't recall model #), I wanted as much clearance as possible...

The 70 or 80 was only a suggestion if going flowmaster in response to your flowmaster 40 comment.

Dynomax makes a nice muffler that sounds good. And there are a few magnaflow units that dont sound too bad. Concretejungle has posted the dynomax part number and dankunz has posted his magnaflow number (gm) as well. Both sound pretty ok but im sure there are different models that will fit and have different notes.

3" over the frame rail is tougher but doable, but if built in place its hard to weld 100% around the seam if using crush bends vs a mandrel section

Heres my old setup with flowmaster 50 that i returned next day for 11" glaspack as a resonator. It was still too loud which is laughable cause i think my current EMS is too loud but when i installed it i was relieved at how much better it sounded than the old system. Planning this as next 80 repair and have a vibrant resonator planned to tone down the magnaflow in there now.

I started with a Flowmaster 40 without a resonator (the stock one got ripped off at URE). It had the stupid loud fart can sound. I replaced it with a Magnaflow and glass pack resonator and have been much happier.

My homie in Oakland will hook you up..... let my man explain how its done

It's like a 'larm clock!

I like how in the "demonstration" he uses both lanes and blows a stop sign.

Was thinking the same thing..... and it didnt even whistle. You know, whoop woop , not like woop whoop. Kinda like this 4 barrel carb i got lol

I'm sorry for the hijack, but when you open it in YouTube, this is next on the playlist
