I have a 94 with 111K and the exhaust is leaking by the cat and affecting the o2 sensor causing a check engine light. I've tried the putty but it's pretty knarley down there. Does anybody know of an inexpensive replacement for the pipes (including o2's) to cats. I probably should replace the entire system but I am trying to sell my rig. Suggestions helpful.
Thanks!

www.discountconverter.com for the down pipes and cats in one unit, bout 180 ea. Oxygensensors.com for the O2's bout 135?ea. Not a bad fit but some slight bending needed. Use the old O2 sensors till the oil is burned off the inside of the tubes. Took me about three days then the old O2's went belly up and I replaced them. These down pipes are a lot less expensive than the 1200 and 1300 Toyota replacements but they are not stainless. My replacement was for a 91 so yours will be different. They have been fine in my 80 for the past 15000 miles. HTH

I do not know about the cat but when my O2 sensors failed and the check engine light came on I called Toyota and they told me that they would replace them for free. At the time I had a 94 with close to the same miles. I think that there was a recall or something along those lines.

It is worth a phone call.... HTH.

I remember reading somewhere about that recall. Do you remember if it included the 97 LC?

I believe the recall was just for 93 and 94. As a matter of fact my check engine light just came on and it was the rear O2. I did some research and found the recall but it was posted back in 1994. Ryankalel...when did you have your O2's replaced? I've got 108K. I wonder if the dealer would do it.

I suggest staight pipes right through the top of the hood.

Screw O2 sensors!

I had mine replaced in July 2003 with 107K miles. Almost two years ago.

I think I remember the paper saying that it would be honored if it had between 75K to 150K. You should be alright. Good Luck

got a welder or an exhaust shop nearby? (not midas or meineke)

get a generic cat from summit racing, and a magnaflow or other muffler, bend some pipe, and your done.

oh, and you can by the cat by flow rate, just try and keep your back pressure around 2.5lbs or so

exhaust

I had a problem a few weeks ago, the downpipes where they join into one had blown a small hole and was cracked, I got the local exhaust centre to weld it back up, I can see why there would be problems with downpipe corrosion/cracking, the front wheel chucks buckets of water over it when running in the rain, I would have thought Toyota would have put a splash guard in front of the downpipes.....
